2005 Mustang GT- Speedometer Issues

2005 Mustang GT-Auto-This is a friends girlfriends car.

From what I can gather the speedo stopped working altogether. Apparently when it's cold out sometimes it works for like the first 5 minutes of operation, then it quits again.

What drives the speedometer? Is it run off of a wheel speed sensor? What I find is weird is the fact that it's intermittant and sometimes works.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appricated.

you need to change the cluster, its very common on the S-197 for the speedo or RPM to stop working right!! it not the sensor its the cluster..
