Hey everyone! I've been lurking on the forum awhile and finally got around to introducing myself and wanted to start a build thread where I could show the progress and hopefully get some help from you guys if I run into some issues. Hope you all enjoy. It's been fun so far! I will continue to update the thread as I move along with the progress

My Car:
2004 Mustang GT. Was bought new by my dad and passed down to me for my first car when I turned 16 (Lucky me! ). I drove it all through highschool basically stock other then being lowered on eibach's springs and 18x9/10 fr500's. Yes I realize the grill doesn't appeal to everyone lol!
Donor Car:
1996 Cobra. I didn't plan this build until I found this car on CL and couldn't pass up the deal lol. This car was built by a shop and then sold to the owner before me who drove it and ended up wrecking the car.
The car had the '01 Ford Reman and T56 in it when I bought it. The bottom side of the intake was drilled out and found the nitrous lines ran throughout the car so it's pretty safe to say the car was on the bottle. Lol.
This was how I bought the car. (For those who have a deep passion for cobra's, which I assume is all of us, you may want to scroll past these next couple images..)
What I was after!
How the poor car ended its life
Just for reference I did get a chance to talk to the owner before the one I bought it from and got to see the car in its prime.. Wish it could've lived its life on like this..
Then came the tear down of my car.. Couldn't thank my buddy Conner (Imrambo) enough for all the help!

After we got the engine out we were able to start pulling the harness's out in order to get the engine bay cleaned out so we could send the car off to get the aprons smoothed and painted. Could not stress enough how well the Scott Rod Fab fit and their quality. HIGHLY suggest them! Very reasonably priced and their customer service is phenomenal. Very rare to get a phone call from someone to say your order is ready to be shipped out.
Then came paint
After paint we decided to tackle the tubular k. Was pretty nervous about it at first but it ended up being cake walk! I could see it being a huge PITA with the engine still in however..
The car seems pretty darn low and the coilovers still have a lot more room to go lower. Definitely going to have to raise it up I think.. After Getting the car squared away I turned my focus to the engine.
And the teardown begins..
Besides the water pump being all gummed up the engine was flawless. It would be pretty safe to assume it didn't have much more then 20-30k miles at most! After getting it all torn apart I was more that thrilled to see the cross hatch pattern still in the cylinders so I was able to keep it standard.
Then came delivery day with all my parts! All parts are listed above..
After getting everything in I started with checking the ARP main studs and noticed they ended up pulling the main housing bore almost .002" so that had to be addressed..
After I laid the crank in I hung the pistons on the rods, checked the big end of the rods, gapped both 1st and 2nd rings to .026" and then got the engine short blocked.
From there my focus turned to the heads. I took the aggressive lips off the short side of the pockets to help with the air flow. There isn't much work to be done on these heads
After doing some work on the air flow we cleaned up the surface on my heads. Only had to take .002" off! It blows my mind how good of shape everything is in. After getting the heads surface I faced the valves and got the heads assembled with the comp springs and retainers. My dad came by the shop and decided to be my personal paparazzi lol!
At this point I am just left finding some time to slap the heads on and get the rest of the engine together.. Oh! And I received my CG Fab hotside! Can't wait to see this all in the engine bay!
