2004 cobra alternator options

Trying to find a thinner alternator for my 65 mustang cobra build. Stock alternator hits the control arm bolt. Wondering if there is another ford alternator that is at least 1 inch thinner front to back. I am trying to avoid having to modify the motor and trans mounts to move everything forward.

Pretty sure an alternator is an alternator. theyre all made to fit the application there for...
So MY opinion you have to custom build a bracket for the alternator or something.
