hi, ever since i purchased the car its had this really annoying idle noise.
99 percent sure its not the exhaust anymore.
only happens on idle or when the engine is under load at very low rpms.
if i push the clutch in the noise does not change.
it kinds rpm dependent if i blip the throttle when its idling its gets quite a bit worse.
took it to an exhaust shop and they said "after messing around with the exhaust its not it.
Reinstall slave cover was loose and rattling found pressure plate rivit in cover, pressure plate also has rattle."
put 2000 miles on it and noise has not got any worse or better.

Any suggestions on what to look for?

sound of the rattling

Is the egr deleted? If so check the egr bung cap on the manifold. Mine was loose and made a bunch of noise that drove me up the wall

i replaced those when i put a wideband on. Oh and i forgot to mention the exhaust shop took the cover off and found 2 pretty dinged up rivets.

The friction material on the flywheel is held on with little rivets but I think the sound would go away with the pressure on it from the clutch.

You would think so, but pressing the clutch does not make a difference. really strange lol

can you put it on a rack or jackstands and start it to get closer to the noise? if you found a rivet in the cover probably is the p/p

had the EXACT same issue with my 04, turned out the flywheel was slightly warped and just causing hell.

I'd check flywheel.

Did it decrease the noise once the clutch was pushed in? pushing or releasing the clutch does not make a difference to the noise for me.

I had a bad sound a few years ago. Ended up being the flywheel. Center section was down to the rivets and loose. Most noticeable at idle and low rpms.
