I would think the S351 would be faster then the cobra R, considering its a supercharged 351

Thats retarded, the '03,'04 cobra IS faster than the '00 Cobra R (13.2vs12.7) Not only that but during a "dream car battle" which was on the history channel I think, they did the comparrison of '67 427 cobra and the charger, camaro... ect. Out of all of them (stock 1/4 mile times, burnout, slolom ect) the 427 won. BUT the stock 427 ONLY ran a 13.9 which was extremly fast back then. The reason I specifically remember this is because I owned my SRT-4 and thought that that was cool, I could take him :burnout: 13.7 stock

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the list. Saleen has more power for sure, but maybe the weight of the R makes it faster???? What does an R weigh?

Of those, which car was mass produced so everyone could buy? The saleens don't count in my book as they are "tuner cars". The ac cobra was a very limited production, the 2000 cobra R was also limited. I'd say the 03-04 cobra is the fastest "production" ford built. They built one for everyone that wanted one. They even had a few left over that they couldn't get rid of.

I like this list better. The '03 Cobra is the third fastest Ford on this list, behind the 2005 Ford GT and the 1964 Fairlane T-Bolt 427. It lists Saleen as a separate manufacturer.

My favorite car on the list is #2, the 426 Hemi Dodge Dart. I have always loved those old Dodge Darts. There are a lot of Dodge Dart nuts out there, including one of the National Public Radio Car Talk guys.

The 1964 Ford Fairlane was not a true production car with just a few made, as describe in this excerpt from a web site:

Comments: The most exciting news of 1964 was a special Fairlane model designed for serious drag strip racing. Ford teamed up with Andy Hotten, of Dearborn Steel Tubing Co., to build 57 Fairlane based 427 powered race cars with a weight of around 3,203 lbs to compete on professional drag strips. These cars had fiberglass fenders, teardrop-shaped hood blisters (to clear the competition 427's high rise manifold and air cleaner), Plexiglass windows, lightweight police-package bucket seats, an air induction system with air intakes where the inner headlights used to be, 8,000 rpm Rotunda tachs, modified front suspensions (to fit the 427), and many special competition equipment features. Sunvisors, mirror, sound-deadening, armrests, even the jack and lug wrench were removed to save weight. The 425 bhp 427 big block was heavily modified and actually cranked out around 500 bhp. It was linked to a beefed-up Lincoln automatic with 4.58:1 gearing or a Borg Warner T-10 transmission with Hurst shifter with 4.44:1 gearing. Massive traction bars, asymmetrical rear springs, and a trunk mounted 95 pound bus battery helped to get all that power to the ground. The 1964 Ford Fairlane Special Performance Drag vehicles soon adopted the Thunderbolt name from the 1963 A/FX Fairlane drag race car and were also known as "T-bolts." Demand was strong enough to lead to a second order of 54 all white cars. Driver Gas Ronda dominated NHRA's 1964 World Championship by running his T-bolt through the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds at 124 mph. Of the 111 total built, at least 99 of them had manual transmission, and the first 11 were painted maroon, the rest were white.

Production: Thunderbolt: 100
Engines: 427 V8 425 bhp @ 6000 rpm, 480 lb-ft @ 3700 rpm.
Performance: Thunderbolt: 427/425: 1/4 mile in 11.76 seconds.

Yep, Saleens don't count, that's just aftermarket, and I really don't consider the R's seeing that they arn't normal production. Same with the limited production Cobra 427.

I don't consider super high priced cars either, considering you never, ever, ever see one on the road, and if you do it damn sure aint gonna run you. So whats the point?

The cool thing about the '03/'04 Cobra is with just a little tweaking it can top almost all of them.

I agree!!! The cool thing is the tweaking and that was the SVT plan all along. Saleen's shouldn't count. The chevy list doesn't consider the corvettes. DUH!!!! Maybe I should pull my post....

I think the AC Bristol Cobras should definately be included in the list...there were about 2,500 of them made, weren't there? The AC's and the Ford GT should battle it out for the top spot with the 03/04 Terminator a SOLID third............
