I own a 2001 Lightning , it has lower pulley for the SC, the top end of the SC, CAI, Long tube kooks, tuned,, and i like it that way, but i just scored a 2010 GT500 complete engine, the car was totaled, the engine had an impact on the front of the passenger valve cover, it has a hole on the cover, and it cracked the sprocket that drives the chain to the crankshaft, , but the engine is in perfects conditions, the oil it has is clear, and the engine on the inside is very clean, has all the stickers , looks like new.. today i removed the head to take it to the machining shop to check the valves, but it looks like it didnt hit the pistons but, just to be sure.... i did all the job and when i was to pushing the engine on the engine stand i slipped the engine and fell to the floor and broke the engine cooler...

ok i plan to bolt the complete engine to the lightning trans, will use the lightning engine mounts,, the alternator will hit the power steering box,, i will convert it to rack and pinion.. will work on the stock lightning harness to fit the GT500 injectors plugs and connections,. will be tuned by jhonny lightning performance..

wich fuel pumps should i use?? will upload pics tomorrow

Its going to take a lot more than you think to bolt that into your truck.

lightning rodder has a ton of threads on 4v swaps. they get very expensive, very fast.

hope this one doesnt get that xpensive because i dont have alot of money, but i think i have everything covered, i have the complete engine, it will bolt just fine to my trans, will use the same lightning engine mounts, will upgrade the intercooler radiator, will upgrade pumps and fuel regulator.. i dont need to mod anything else, i will rewire the harness,, both engines uses same sensors, exept the maf, i will use the gt500 maf as i have it.. will run the gt500 engine with the gt500 accesories, will convert it to rack and pinion to free some space for the alternator.. i cant think any more expenses??? i double checked on the tune, and i can see everyone say only good things about Lund racing tuning.. i send a request to see if they can do the tune for me.. to be honest it does not look that hard.. its like swap a 4.8l gm for a 5.3l, everything bolts just fine,

There are a ton of with 4v motors that aren't rack and pinion. It didn't just drop in and run with a tune. I suggest you do some research

Yes sure y did research alot. And im sure it will work. Ill start uploading pics tomorrow. Rack and pinion is a plus for me. And it did hit with the alternator. Wont fit with stock engine mounts. At least with the coyote engine. I have done 2 of those. I open this thread to post my project and ask for help. Really apreciate you take the time to read and respond. Thanks tomorrow will add the pics

The gt500 block is the same as your lightning block. The rack and pinion is nice for saving weight, but you lose a lot in turning radius.

Update:
- GT500 engine is on the truck and runing. It is runing on the stock ligthning tune for the moment with the MAF unpluged because ill be using the GT500 slot style maf..
- Rack and pinion conversion is done, i need to send it to aligment but it is working perfectly fine..

For the engine, i used the lightning engine oil pan, removed the GT500 oil cooler and installed the oil cooler and oil filter remotely,
used F-150 engine mounts,,, rewired the lightning harness to fit the GT500 engine,, removed EGR and boost bypass valve... installed the stock lightnign throttle body for the moment, i will upgrade it later, installed the IAC valve remotely.. used the lightning A/C compressor to keep the same A/C lines, swaped the alternator pulley from the gt500 compressor to the lightning compressor,, some mods on the water lines, but it really fits perfectly and it started on the first try with the lightning tune, MAF unpluged.. right now the truck is on the exhaust shop,, will update pictures as soon as i got it,, on the fuel side, i used two 355 fuel pumps, did a return style system, used EFI fuel pressure regulator set at 40 PSI engine off.. the only thing left is tuning,, will be done by JLP

Fits nice! My 01 is approaching 150K miles and I have been thinking of a 5.0L Coyote/6R80 swap using 2011 F150 eng/trans/wiring and then adding a supercharger (like Roush F150 kit). Since you have done a Coyote swap as well as the 5.4L DOHC, which do you think is the best way to go?

looks like 5.4L dohc is cheaper because you can use most of the lightning parts,, but if you can, i would do 5.0l coyote/6r80, my friends 5.0 lightning, 4r100 trans, stock tires, did 12.80 or flat 13 dont remember.. but has real fun to drive it,when we put that 5.0 there was no way to keep the 6r80,, but now that you can do it, that would be greatt

i need a litle help here,, truck was runing with stock tune, maf unpluged because i didnt have the intake pipe in that moment and needed to move the truck to the exhaust shop.. then i plugged the lightnign maf and it worked better, i think it was now calculating fuel based on maf... yesterday i proced to swap to the GT500 slot maf,, i followed instructions and double checked on the lighting diagrams and gt500 diagrams,, and started the truck,, but it looks like truck wont calculate from the maf, i know it has to be tuned for the slot maf, but if the slot maf is connected it should calculate from it even if it is calculating incorrect ????
because the maf is connected and if i disconnected it will not makes any difference,, i checked with the SCT xcal3 and it reads maf counts but i looks like pcm ignore the signal from the maf, i tried another slot maf and same... is this normal until i get the tune for this slot type maf???

i dont know much about how the ford pcm works , i do gm tunes, and when maf is unpluged on gm cars , the car will run from the volumetric eficiency table, based on RPM and MAP....

Ford PCM works the same; unplug MAFS then PCM uses Vol/F table, throttle position and RPM to calculate fuel pulse. If a MAFS is plugged in but signals are not within range, PCM should set code and revert to using Vol/F table.

i see, but just to be sure, with engine runing MAF unplugged,, then with the engine still tuning i connect the maf, and clear codes, this should revert it to use the maf right?? i do this and nothing changues in idle or anything, like if it ignores maf, is because signal is out of range as you say??? cause on the xcal it does reads MAF counts..

really apreciate your help
