I just got a 2001 Cobra with 133k miles on it. Appears mostly stock under the hood but the guy said the engine was rebuilt about 30k ago.

Is there any way to tell? The block had been painted blue so I assume it's been out of the car.

Is there any way if knowing with little opening of it? I have no clue if it has a cam or any other internal work done.

Did you ask if he has any paperwork on the rebuild? What shop did the rebuild? Any pics of said rebuild? Ask questions and allot of them!

The owner before the one I bought it from had it rebuilt. He said he didn't get any of the paperwork from him. I couldn't believe he would buy the car with none of that documented, esp about how many miles ago it was rebuilt.

Magnet on the block. May have an iron block now. Mine did. It was a surprise, as it was supposedly all original and previous owner bought it with 3k on the ODO. Mine had a 6 bolt crank and other issues, too.
