In an effort to install a press on 2.93 pulley for as little as possible, I ran across the following, which may help some people (questions to follow though!!):

Press fit 2.93 - $63
http://www.proficientperformance.co...&Store_Code=powerdyne&Product_Code=D10045-293

Gatorback 4080745 belt - $40
(AutoZone is cheaper, but good luck actually getting one)
http://www.southfloridapulleyhq.com/cobra_products_gatorback.htm

Pulley puller (buy) - $96
http://www.alpineecho.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=33

Pulley puller (rent) - $29
http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/products/prod_supercharger_pulley.htm

Now, questions:

-Will the "generic" 2.93 pulley work? (already emailed the company with the same question - I imagine so..)

-I'm guessing that the M90 puller has to be trimmed, according to:
http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20090&highlight=asp+puller
This sort of throws renting it out of the picture...

Anyway, please throw any thoughts my way before I buy all of this...

Looks like you've done your homework!

Just a little encouragement here, in case you need it: don't fear the pulley swap. I just did one for a guy I know, and it was REALLY EASY! A piece of cake. Falling off a log. Walk in the park. 'Course, I've got the tools and a shop, but like I say, using a good puller, antisieze, and a GBMF wrench, and it was simple! Just about took longer to swap the belt that to swap the pullies. I can't imagine taking the snout off like some have recommended. Way too much trouble that way. Get a good pulley-puller, and you should be set.

Good luck,
CW

n0xlf, FWIW department here, the ASP Pulley Puller Tools have been modified now by ASP to accomodate the removal and installation of any Supercharger Pulley on all 03 Cobra's!

Actually South Florida Pulley HQ had them cut off the excess from the Backing Plate, for it to work properly. So all Tools we now sell have all been modified to work perfectly. All of ASP Pulley Puller Tools, now will work on all Eaton Superchargers with no alignment problems whatsoever.

Also, the Goodyear Gatorback SC Belts in sizes 4080740 for the 2.80" SC Pulley & the 4080745 for the 2.93" SC Pulley application are in stock at South Florida Pulley HQ. Hope this helps.

2003SVTCobra, Contrary to popular belief and public opinion here, the ASP Pulley Puller Tool, is designed to R&R Supercharger Pulleys on "Any" Eaton Supercharger, from a M45, M62, M90 & M112 - MP112 application. Hope this helps, as we specialize in all 4 of these Eaton Supercharger Pulley applications.

What about the backing plate flexing and permanently bending on this puller? Has that been resolved as well?

03DOHC, flexing of a backing plate on any Pulley Puller Tool is absolutely normal for this to happen, however the bending of the square bar is not on a "Hot" engine pulley removal process.

It is always better to remove a Supercharger Pulley on an Ice Cold engine, verses a Hot one, that has a tendency to to stubborn on a removal process, as the metal does contract and expand, when the forces are applied, for a removal of any supercharger Pulley.

Hope this helps, as the above so-called problems usually originate from those who Do Not read all the instructions carefully and take their time.

Thanks Terry. How long should one wait for the engine to cool off? I've parked my car at 5pm and gone out at 10pm and the blower was still hot as was the entire engine. Guess that cast iron block really holds the heat. My '97 Cobra would've been cooler than my '03, in the same amount of time.

Are you going to get any 2.93" and 3.1" NON-DUB pulleys? I don't want to advertise.

Yes, I'm interested in those, too. Just cause they'll be cheaper - I assume.

WYD_TRKR:

Do you not have the 2.93 press fit pulleys? (last I checked you only had 2.80)...

How about a package deal/group buy for us on your DUB/2.93 (or 2.80)/ASP Puller/Gatorback?

I want it because once the pulley goes on there it's staying. I don't have time to monkey with my car. I'm not even allowed to change my own oil here!:cuss:

Oh, and for those that are interested, pulleyboys claims a new puller/pulley for our cars soon, see:

http://www.pulleyboys.com/ford.html

And Houston Performance claims a 2.93 press fit for $60 and a custom puller that they are working on that will cost "less than the ASP" (all of that info via email with them)...Last I knew, neither were in stock though...Unknown price on a gatorback from them either...I worked with Steve Drier from there before on my Bassani catback, and he was even able to beat the group purchase price on the Bassani's here, so I'm impressed with them thus far...

03DOHC, Anybody even contemplating removal of their stock pulley and installing a new one, should always wait overnight to take on this task. Also we do not think we will have a 2.93" Press-On pulley available at this time, much less any other size, do to the DUB Unit being so popular , with our various supercharger pulley sizes.

The 2.80" Press-On is a favorite and good selling pulley, verses the cost of our DUB unit, however, for those who want the Versatility of being able to change pulleys at the track etc. this is why we have asigned the sizes that are available , for different boost levels our customers want to experiment with.

Hope this helps.

N0xlf,

You might want to check my post at: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21054

The short version: I didn't use the pulley puller tool, but I would suggest that you do. However, I am not so sure about the belt. We actually put the 745 belt on, but before we did we measured both belts independently (with some fancy belt measuring tool) and the 745 and the stock belt were EXACTLY the same size. Just my 2 cents.

NetworkingGuru , for what it's worth, the stock Supercharger Belt for all 03 Cobra's is a 4080755 Motorcraft Belt. We use the better belts, as the Goodyear Gatorback Poly-V design has a tensil strength of 4 times more stronger than any other belt made today. The Gatorback's are Pre=Stretched from the factory, as 99.9% of all Dayco, Gates and Motorcraft belts stretch within the first 500 miles on any and all Supercharged Engine from the factory. Hope this helps , as "Nothing" beats a Gatorback designed belt.
