2.93 PULLEY AND CHIP ?

Is it an absolute that i need a chip with a 2.93 pulley, anyone here runnning one without a chip ? im hearing conflicting reports.

From 2500-4500 the car will be lean. The thing to remember is the tables in the stock pcm does not add enough fuel down there but is plenty rich up top. By Adding the pulley you bring the boost on 600-700 rpm sooner and this is where the problem is. Higher boost down low and not enough fuel. Plus without a little more timing the rich a/f above 5000 is harder to burn.

I've dyno'ed with, and without a chip. What Rick telling you is true, I ran very lean down low and rich up high in the RPM's.

ok, this makes sense.....so in essance what your saying is that you cannot run a 2:93 without a chip, and be within safe a/f #. and if i were to run it, it would damage my engine. is this correct?
