Did the swap. Went to the 2.81 pulley. They removed the snout and used a press to remove and install the pullies. Changed the blower oil too. Also installed the smaller belt.

They apparently had to cut a metal/aluminum pieced that a hose goes on so the snout can be removed without having to pull the blower. no big deal. The hose still goes on 1 inch past the cut. I think it was a intercooler supply (water) thing.

Not impressed by the dyno results:

BEFORE PULLEY (CB, K&N, DIABLO): 413.7 SAE and About 397 ft/lbs

AFTER PULLEY: (SAE) 440 RWHP and 460 RWTQ in 94 F intake temps.

I gained about 26 HP and about 65 ft/lbs or so. Not bad but was expecting more.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

- WOW! Lots of torque available ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Needle PEGS 10psi VERY easily. Prolly pulls 13 psi.

Blower is LOUDER!

Breaks VERY loose in 1st gear now. Like too easily. Gotta RE-LEARN to drive it.

SOTP tells me the gains where VERY VERY nice! It pulls just that much harder.

REVS very very quickly to 6,000 RMPs.

Feels like a 3 second car 0-60.

Feels like an 11 second car in the 1/4.

Its very tame though. Not outrageous, just more power when you get into it.

BOOST comes on REAL fast now.

Feels like the car lost 700 lbs of weight.

Not bad for $500 installed with parts.

-------------------------

NOTICED BLACK SMOKE AROUND 6000 RMPS ON THE DYNO!!!

Air fuel is PERFECT at 12:1

I think I am blowing out the spark plugs or the blower is being restricted by the intake.

Misfire up high?

PEAK HP comes on MUCH earlier now. Like 5500 RPMs instead of 6400 RPMS before.

All in all I am happy. Cant even tell by looking at the engine!

If you get a CAI from JDM or Paul's you should pick up 10-15 rwhp and an o/r x or h-pipe or even a catted version should get you another 10-20 rwhp. Then you are definately "average" :uh oh: for 03 Cobras.

Im not convinced that a CAI is a worth while investment.
I took my car to the local drag strip to get some times with all the mods i have done and when i removed my air filter to see how much my time improved i actually ran 4 tenths of a second slower.
I couldnt beleave what i was seeing,so i reinstalled the filter and ran again and my time was back where i started.
Just to verify i made 2 more runs with and without the filter and the results were the same. The car was slower without the airfilter. :dw:

I PUT THE 2.80 PULLEY ON TOO

i have no dyno numbers on the new pulley but the torque is up there and the power is there . the only negative is that , no matter what gear the real power doesnt come on until the RPM is about 3000 . i have no chip but i dont here any pinging going on . i am happy but it is a work in progress. I did unhook the waste gate i think it help but i have no proof.

MODS/ IMPROVEMENTS
air fiter in vender
O/R H-pipe
2.80 pulley
NGK-tv6 or something gaped at 35

before pulley dyno 388.RWHP
after ??????

I fully believe you only get about 2/3's out of a pully without a matching chip/dynotune.

I also fully believe the 2.83 pully without a matched chip/tune is living on the edge. One tank of bad gas and you'll have a blown up motor without getting the A/F adjusted.

sn8kbite, I have dyno sheets to back up what I said. When I first dynoed after the pulley and chip, I made 450 rwhp and 451 rwt. I had a stock size K&N air filter in the stock air box and no silencer. I pulled the air box and filter and I made 455 rwhp but my torque dropped to 440.

I put a 9 inch conical filter from S. Fla that is exactly the same setup as JDM's and I made 464 rwhp and 461 rwt on the same dyno. If you're sucking air right into the MAF it will hurt your the performance of the engine. We even put a fan blowing right into my MAF and the engine would not run period. It would start up and then choke down. That is how sensitive the air flow is going through the MAF and the affect it has on the engine.

I did get a diablo chip tune BTW. For that exact size pulley! AF is perfect!

Pulley - $109
Belt - $55
Pulley install (2hrs) - $150ish
Diablo re-flash - $120
Dyno runs with AF - $100

There ya go...
