Made two runs today before I thought it was best to stop. My stock clutch started to smell and on both runs the tires spun pretty bad. I took it easy shifting as it was also my ride home. I was really happy about no wheel hop.

I guess a Spec 3+ will be my next mod... and maybe a line-lock

1st run
reaction .6425
60ft 1.8488
330ft 4.9586
1/8 et 7.5169
1/8 MPH 97.27

2nd run
reaction .5798
60ft 1.8546
330ft 4.9860
1/8 et 7.5347
1/8 MPH 95.66

After spending time in the 90's on 1/4 mile tracks it was a little weird running the 1/8. I was a long time since I raced and i just had a blast.

Yeah 1/8 mile sucks! That's all I have with 2 hrs. I guess seeing your clutch lasted through the tune makes me feel better about mine.

Congrats on getting back to the track. Keep practicing, those times are really nothing to write home about.

A 7.5 in the 1/8th is about a very high 11 in th 1/4. I am sure you are making good power just work more on putting all of it to the pavement.

618 rwhp @ 19lbs boost.

You should easily be trapping 130-135. So either you aren't driving the car at all or something else is wrong. Not trying to be a di(k just trying to help.

EDIT......130-135 in the 1/4 would be about 105+/- in the 1/8 depending on how your car is setup.

Damn guys he said he was granny shifting, spinning, and the clutch was smelling. I'm sure he knows what it will run to.

Yeah, that was the first time I was an a 1/8 mile track. It ends quick. The closest 1/4 mile track is about 2 hrs from me as well. I think the clutch lasted on the tune mainly because it's a start from a roll. Very little stress as compaired to a hole shot with some traction.

7.50's in the eighth should be 11.50's in the .25.

The OP's car should be running 6.70's-6.80's at 102-104 mph easy. Good air, good driver, good track, maybe faster.

MVD - I hear what you are saying and am fully aware of where I should be but, the first time at the track WITH THIS CAR there are bound to be issues. Traction is usually one of them and I had no idea how the stock clutch would hold up... or not!

Thanks for the input.

I am pretty familiar with drag racing and I must tell you that 1/4 mile is the way to go. I raced NHRA up in NJ at Englishtown and Atco for over ten years and had a 8.9 - 9.2 second 1/4 mile car... then decided to have a family. I am just now finding time to enjoy myself and the cobra.

Posi, thanks for reading between the lines. LOL

A good clutch is HUGE. Without it youre waisting time. My MPH drops dramticaly if my clutch is bad.

I went 11.80 in the 1/4th with 444rwhp but only went 112.

Edit: just read above post. You know what youve got to do. LOL

What tires? I would think a 7.5 would equal to a 11.4-11.5 in the 1/4, which isn't slow!
