19x9.5 Front with 18x10 Rear with Drag Radials - Would it look strange?

I just ordered 19x9.5 SVE Drifts all the way around for my 2011 GT500 Convertible.

I currently have 255/40/19 Michelin Pilot A/S 3s in front and 285/35/19s in back for the winter.

I am going to put them on the SVE new wheels.

For having a little fun on nice days in the spring, summer, and fall I wanted to put Drag Radials out back on the weekends.

I will buy 2 more SVE Drifts to swap on and off.

MT makes a 305/35/19, I would love to put that on a 19x9.5 rim, but the recommended rim size is 10" minimum. If it were safe this would be my 1st choice.

My other choice is to buy Two 18x10s for the rear and mount either 285/40/18 or 305/40/18 Nitto 555R Drag Radials out back.
MT makes a 305/35/18, but it is a shorter diameter which will make my gearing even lower geared and have too much torque already.

Would the 18s look OK out back if the tire size was the same diameter.

For example...

a 285/35/19 and 285/40/18 are the same height, I would run the 285/40/18 out back with a 255/40/19 in the front, both 27" tall, the 305/40/18 (more sidewall) is 27.6" tall.

Opinions and advice please.

Last summer I bought a couple 18x10 SVE drift wheels off craigslist with Nitto NT05R drag radials on them for $400.

They are pretty much the same height as the the front 19's with tires on them. Yeah it looks sort of weird bc the wheel is slightly smaller but the sidewall is wider. In the long run the tires run a little cheaper than 19's and it hooks very well even for 285's which I will swap out to 305's when these are worn out.

I'm considering throwing the DR's back on since there is no rain scheduled and I hate spinning these crappy GY's on the 20" SVT wheels. I will be swapping to the continental extreme contact DWS as far as year round tires go when these GY's are destroyed.:rolling:

Do you have any pics of them on the car?

I could always change my SVE Drift order from 19x9.5s all around to 18x9 and 18x10, but I thought they would look small all the time.

I could take a picture tomorrow with them on and the 19's up front

I'll be doing the same setup once I get my forgelines in a few weeks. Friend of mine did the same sizes in his GTR and it looked good.

In my vast hours of searching I found TWO Twin-Turbo Coyotes running 9.5s at 150+ on 19x9.5 RTR drifts with 305/35/19 MT Drag Radials.

They cut a 1.3 60'

This might be the option for a little fun on weekends, just not as a daily driver.

Here are some links for the 19x9.5 RTRs and SVE running 305/35/19 MT...

The guy with the SVE cut a 1.4

Do you ever go to the drag strip or just want more traction on the street for some fun?
If more strip, go with the taller sidewall 18", if just for street fun, I'd do the MT 305 19" and keep 19s for all your wheels for convenience.

Street fun.

I am leaning towards the 305/35/19s, but I was hesitant because technically they are not safe on a 9.5" rim, but after speaking with the guy with the Blue 5.0 and watching those videos, if it is safe enough to run 9s@150+ it will be fine for my occasional street blast with 600rwhp.

Probably safer than trying it on 285/35/19 street tires.

IMO, will look fine with a 18" rear rim

Also a 10" min rec wheel tire on a 9.5" tire will be fine as well.

I ran a 265/40/18 on a 8.5" rim, min rec rim was 9". Ran it for 3 years no issues.

Run a 325/40/18 now on a 10" rim with a min spec rim of 11" (iirc) and works good

That is what I am banking on

why not just run 4 18 inch wheels?

I think it will look too small on my car

18s are too small looking on our cars, your plan for the 19s is good, the 305 MT will be just fine on the 9.5", especially for street fun.

I rand 18/17 on my terminator and people rarely noticed. I have a friend 10seclx on here who runs 20/18 on a 5.0 and it's not that noticeable.

I would have done 18s if they looked great, many more tire choices, but the 305/35/19 works well, just wish 19s weren't so much more expensive.

I haven't had time to read all of the responses. Like Sedanman mentioned, I have 20's up front with 255/40's (28.0") and 18x10's in the back with 305/45/18 MT's (28.9"). It has worked well for my auto combination on the street and track. I was going back and forth between the 305/45/18 MT and the 305/35/20 MT. Both are the same overall height. I called MT to see if they could tell me if there weould be a measurable difference in traction and they said "no, none at all" due to the radial construction. I went with conventional wisdom and bought the 18's anyway. They don't look bad, but I am tired of the mis-matched look and plan to go to the 20" MT's and just commit to something even more serious when all out traction on the street is needed. I would go with the 1" wheel diameter difference. I don't think that is too much. I would just be careful to keep the tire heights in check.

I doubt that helped, but anyhow. :D
