No real big progress as majority of my time now is just buttoning things up and finishing of pieces.

I got my valve covers back from powder and I like how they turned out.

Need to re-do one of my AN fittings as it is leaking a tiny bit.

Wiring inside is still kind of a mess but im working my way through it.

My factory ash tray and cig lighter were pointless and useless as they were never used.....

Removed the cig lighter in order to mount one of these....

Lastly, I had to measure the clearance from caliper to back of wheel as I am milling off some from the mounting pad in order to achieve a more optimal offset.

This weekend I should have all the wiring done, and the engine ready to crank and fire... I am waiting for another week or so until my dad gets here again so he can do the honors of firing the car for the first time.

I know what you mean! Been bringing some of my dads cars out of storage from 15-20 years ago and he has been ecstatic to see new life in them!
Keep up the good work!

Thursday I picked up the wheels from having .100" milled off each one. It was done in house at the same shop that powder coated the wheels, they do beautiful work.

Up front from the factory there was a PS cooler which consisted of metal tubing that ran up toward the top of the radiator support and then back down. I decided I wanted something that would cool more since this car could possibly see some track time. I had originally wanted to do a fuel cooler out of this however the fuel would just head up in the carb bowls anyhow so seemed pointless.

I finished mounting the battery and installing the relay for the fuel pumps, mounted everything and tied all the wires down. This area is now completed!

I know I have seen much prettier wiring done by others but this is a piece that probably won't be seen by anyone as it will be covered up. Same with the front foot well too, that will all be under carpet so I didn't care to spend hours making it pretty.

I am heading back to my welders shop on Tuesday but this time to use his plasma cutter.

The front bumper weighs a TON!!! I am going to be cutting a lot if it out to lighten it up. I will have one small piece that goes from support to support to keep the nose piece from collapsing in.

Just need to wait on my gauges so I can hook up my water temp, oil pressure to the engine so I can fire her up.

Gauges ended up coming in today, it was like Christmas!

I went with pro comp ultra lite gauges because I like the silver but I opted to do the flat black bezel and red LED's as an upgrade. I also opted to go with the full sweep gauges, quite a bit more expensive but I like the look better than the side to side sweep. I have the 5" speedo and tach. Speedo works off an electrical sender so no more speedo cable. I have water temp, oil pressure, volts, and fuel that are going on the dash. Those are all 2 and 1/16 inches. My old setup I had in front of the shifter oil pressure and water temp in 2 and 5/8ths, now one will be wideband and the other a clock. I ran out of other things to monitor and my factory radio doesn't have a clock.

Next thing I did was wired up the start button. This was more of a novelty thing for me as the cigarette lighter was never used. I will still need to use the ignition key as I didn't want this live all the time. The pic below is with the key off. black button, not a lot of attention.

With the key on it powers the LED light ring around the start button, from the button I went through the clutch switch so you cannot start the car without the clutch pushed in.

I cleaned up some wiring and tucked it away. ran some wires from the dash to the sending units for water temp and oil pressure to the bay. I also installed the electrical speedo sender.

Spent tonight finding the factory wires for the fuel, ignition 12v, lights, high beam, left and right blinker signal.

Got my 2 5/8 gauges mocked up and put into the bezel in front of the shifter, not sure what I want to do with the bezel itself, its made out of aluminum. Im debating brushed alum or leave it black.

Im waiting on my florida 5-0 bezel so I decided to mock up what it will look like and how I will lay out the gauges. I also need to monitor vitals when I fire it up.

On the left I have the volts and gas

On the right I have oil pressure and water temp. The oil pressure has a warning light for low and max.

I really wanted everything to have the full sweep as it looks matching and uniform with the full sweep speedo and tach.

Now I'm just left with this pile to sort through and tie away.... all this wiring is making me crazy.

Looking good!
I'd keep the console bezel black for now.
I choose the same gauges for my LX.

Spent the last several nights slowing reading through this build thread. Such an incredibly detailed build. Must be really exciting to getting closer to completion after years of work. Excellent work though. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

You enjoy my emotional roller coaster? hahaha. Thanks for the compliment, it really is exciting. I was just sitting in the garage last night looking at my white board of things left to do and I can remember making the list... it has come a long way... almost 3 years. Im looking forward to finally driving it, it will be a completely different car.

Take a pick of the white board for your memories. When I got my car back from Team Z (this was 06-07) from the chassis/turbo, we had a running list 4 legal pad pages long taped to the lift. I just found the 4 pages taped together while going through old part boxes and it was cool to reread and remember!
Crazy how much goes into a build. Little things add up

It was a working list that was ever changing, I think I have pics at the beginning. I get anxiety just thinking about it.

Today I was able to shave about 25lbs from the front of the car....

The factory bumper was pretty heavy so I trimmed it up. I would have gone with an aftermarket hoop but the parking lamps are housed in the bumper and I wanted something there to keep the bumper from folding in at high speeds so this is what I came up with.

I sanded down the edges and painted it so it wouldn't rust.... not that it has ever seen rain to begin with.

Got my throttle bracket in, need to make some adjustments still.

Wiring fun... oh fun!!!

This is before I cleaned it up a bit and bundled most of the wires together. The bus bars I have under here are temporary as I am going to have something a little more protected soon.

Now for the gauges with the LED red backlights.

The lighting on these isn't the best, the Ultralite II's are better as the numbers actually are back lit... but after the price of these (being cheaper) coming to $1700 I came to terms on the sub par backlit gauges.

Pulled the plugs on the engine and rolled it over to build oil pressure and to avoid putting any strain on the engine with building compression. I was able to achieve 42lbs just having the starter spin the engine over.

My dad gets here Tuesday night so Wednesday I should have it fired up. I will be making a video so stay tuned!!!
