Is it from a cleavland motor or a windsor?

I think that mine is a windsor motor with a four barrel carb on it..

Well the Windsor engines only came with the 2 barrel and they only had

153hp @ 3800 RPM and 242 lbs-ft @ 2000 RPM :lol1:

Not true, I have a 351W H.O. from an F-150 that came with a 4-barrel on it. No idea what the output was though.

well i'm planning of going turbo with it... or just put high compresion pistons in it and cams and a big carb and i think that it should run gr8... the mustang was a 4 cyl mustang from year 1986 it's really light!.. sooo let see :D:D should run nice:D

I think you would be suprised at what some compression and heads would do.

The guys that run the Clevelands HARD will tell ya to sleve 'em before you throw a lot of HP at 'em. They have a tendency to crack the cylinder walls under a LOT of stress. I've got 3 of them in my garage and they are great old motors. You got 2 or 4 bolt mains? If your going to invest some money you might consider making it a 408 stroker. Badass!!

The Cleveland is a far superior powerhouse engine type design over the Windsor. Ask any true Ford engine guru and they know that the FE's and the Clevelands are the real powerhouses. Your lucky if you got a 4v 4 bolt main block...

Don't get me wrong, if you got a Windsor it can me made extremely nasty and for cheaper than the Cleveland, just look at some of the big power Gen 1 guys...

I just started and broke in my homebuilt 397FE engine today and man did it feel good. I got 324fwhp and 416fwtq all down low in the rpm range on a desktop dyno, which is right where you want it for a 4wd... Stan

One thing, the open chamber cleveland heads are somewhat prone to detonation(bad design), in '72 you may have them, maybe not if it's a '72 H.O.

I ran a windsor for years in a 71 Mustang. They build alot of torque but you cant twist them as hard as a cleveland due to the crank size. You can put cleveland heads on a windsor, and then get yourself an intake thats made for a windsor with cleveland heads and shell run quite well. There are also a few stroker kits available for it id check into.
