Who currently has the best deal on 13-14 GT500 6 piston calipers. I see the kits for around $1500 but I'm putting together my own kit. Seems like Tasca is the lowest from what I've seen and wondering if any of you guys know of any other place that could be lower.

My understanding is that the s550 6 piston brembos fit exactly the same, have a larger pad area, and don't carry the gt500 tax so they are cheaper. Just throwing that out there for you. I am going to go that route when funds allow.

Heres my upgrade:
- used s550 trackpack Brembos - $300
- stainless lines - $110
- TRW ceramic pads - $48
- powder coating $100 (friend doing them)
- DBA T slot rotor

So about $800 for all and the kit doesnt have slotted rotors and stainless lines. I attached a pic of the pad difference. S550 pad on left and 2013-14 pad on right.

I was gonna go with Hawk pads but I seen good reviews on these TRW. My car is just a weekend warrior, I'm doing mainly for looks and added stopping power. I also did the rear 14" rotors and caliper adapters.

The calipers are built like a tank so I wouldn't worry so much about getting used ones...

Good to know. BTW got any tips on any 11-12 GT500's for sale

From what I've read was that the caliper had to be shimmed or something. Is that not the case. Any issues with wheel choices due to the calipers being much larger.

Which SS lines did you get?

When i put 2015 gt calipers on my 2014 gt500 to clear my drag wheels' I used washers between the caliper and the spindles. The calipers sat wrong on the rotors.

Is there any particular reason why you would swap 2015 GT calipers for your 2013 GT500 calipers?

The 2015 gt calipers are 4 piston and can clear a 17 inch wheel. My 2014 gt500 6 piston didn't clear when i test fitted . swapped the rear caliper brackets too to fit 15x10 wheels .

2015 GT 4 piston calipers are heavy, 12 lbs each.

10-12 GT500/Boss 302/GT performance 4 piston calipers are 8 lbs each, if you were to swap you could save 4 lbs on each front wheel!

Installed:
-15" 13/14 Shelby GT500 rotors
- Russell #693380 ss brake lines
- 2015 Mustang Track pack 6 piston Brembo calipers

All bolt in on an S197 2011 Shelby GT500. Minor triming on dust shield to fit calipers.

That looks good and should be able to save a couple hundred dollars going this route. Is the pad supposed to stick out like that?

I went with TRW pads...they are huge compared to the the Ford OEM pads. The back pad is so big I had to grind the down the points on the pads, on the backside of the rotor because they were hitting the caliper. I will take flicks when I get home. The pads fit the entire rotor surface so should be fine.

Here are the pads.

First picture is Ford OEM on left vs original TRW ceramic.

Second picture is modded TRW vs original TRW pad. Note the points on original. I grinded those down because it was hitting the caliper on the inside.

Third picture is the 2015 Mustang trackpack 6 piston Brembo pad vs a 2013/2014 GT500 6 piston Brembo pad.

Larger pad area on the s550 caliper and it drops right in... thats what I did on my 08 did it the full swap with new parts for under $1100
So, just to be clear, there was no shimming required of the caliper to the knuckle? Just bolt up, bleed and go?

These use the GT500 07-12 rotors or did you also get the 15-17 6 pot rotors?

I have these on my '07 and yeah, just bolt them up and they're good to go. You'll have to ditch your dust shields if you still have them.

I bought the shields from the '13 since it's supposed to draw heat away from the hub.

Oh and no you'll have to use the '13 rotors.
