thats what it will run. thoughts?

*this is only a guess*

A good comparison would be a 2006 M5. Weighs 4000 lbs, has 500 hp. runs 12.7 @ 115 ~~

Hopefully that will be the average joe's time, asI have seen ford GT's run 12.3's!! how do you do that? If I can't get this car to run a 12.0X I will be disapointed.

Yeah I know its impossible to judge what this thing will run, but I am curious to get everyones opinions into one thread. I dont think ill be buying this thing if it doesnt run low 12's at 115-117 or more.

Not an accurate comparison. The Torque is lower on the M and the gearing is diff. Area under the curve on the hp and tq curves willbe diff.

With that said, I have no idea. I am thinking/hoping for low 12s stock and high 11s with minor (CAI, Exhaust, tune) mods.

it'll be low-mid 12's at best, with the best drivers. I think you'll see them averaging in the mid 12's. Kind of like how Terminators seem to average in the high 12's, but we all know they're capable of a lot more.

It hopefully will be faster than the terms , but will be so close that it will come down to the driver as always . No blowin the terms off like everybody thinks here !! They claim in one of the mustang mags that considering the car is heavier and less aerodynamic, they figured a 12.8 . I know you shelby guys just want to rub it in our faces but.....

A question about the 03/04's. The best time I have heard was a 12.4 (dont know the mph) by evan smith . Has there been anyone else to duplicate these times?

I don't think we want to rub it anybody's face. The only arguments we have had were to due with lack of respect for the Shelby. We respect the Terms.

Horrible comparison. Avg HP/TQ is not comparable. In the hands of a good driver they will run 11s bone stock @ close to 120. I would expect some of the pussy footed rags to run mid 12s however.
Also, fwiw, last rag I saw had the M5 trapping 118 in the 1320.

Wait till Evan Smith (MM&FF) gets a hold of one. :-D If he did a 12.4 with a Terminator, I don't think that's it's beyond the realm of possibility that he could dip into the 11s with the Shelby. Keep in mind that this car has 85 more hp&tq and is only 200 lbs. heavier. The potential is there. :burnout:

:D Agree. E.Smith made this claim of low, low 12's / high 11's 6-8 months ago when this car first made it's concept showing @450 hp, he'll do it with 475 hp +

I just saw a test in which the M5 and M6 both ran 12.4...the M6 did 118mph, the M5 115mph I think. What you are forgetting is the fact that the GT500 will make over 100lbs of tq more than the M cars.

Road and Track Data panal...

See my post...the M6 trapped 118mph the M5 115mph both ran 12.4. You know whats beautiful about the M cars is that they make over 100hp per litre normally aspirated, and these V8s spin to 8300rpm.

Now that's more like it!! A mid-12 GT just didn't sound right...or it was trapped with me behind the wheel. <-- and that would be on my 50th run.

Don't forget that this chassi is far stiffer and rearend setup is superior for dragging than a Term. Sticky track + good driver + good air + speed shifting = high 11's.
