I agree....part of the Mustang's heritage came from fast cars back in the day. IMO if Ford was more interested in performance than sales, they wouldn't have sat around for a decade as the slower of the 2 pony cars in recent years. Ford had a winning formula for car sales, and they had no reason to change it.

I hate to break it to you, but the fuel mileage kind of sucks IMO.....15mpg city/23 mpg highway???? Didn't the 99/01 Cobras get better mileage??? I do believe that Chevy's Z06 which puts out similar (a bit less) hp #'s bone stock gets about 19mpg city/28mpg highway. An extra 5mpg on the highway is huge!!!

I know SVT didn't make this new Cobra for sales fully, or did they??? This new Cobra will not only take over some Fbody fanatics, but also those that may have wanted a Vette can step into something that is very comparable performance wise for $10-$15K less.

I think after the botching of the 99 Cobra, some may have felt obligated to make up for the incident....that may have played a small factor.

Exactly, but this new Cobra allows Ford to take on the Vette market, which is a target market they did not have before.
