Ran the 1/8 th for the first time the other night. Traction is horrible because of 4.10's and tires. I was out of first gear before I passed the tree. Times were no good (8.2 & 2.2 60ft :xpl:), however, I was running 92-93 mph passes. It's a vert, so they won't let me run the 1/4 w/o a rollbar, so for now, the 1/8th mile pass is all I've got to go by.

Obviously it is all a guessing game. But some are telling me to add 25 mph for a 1/4 mile time. Some of those in attendance were blown away that I was still able to hit 93 mph with such a poor launch and said it would be more.

Any comments or ideas. And yes, I will be getting some ET streets and run it right.

I've seen way worse than 2.2. I dont think your 1/8 mile trap will go much higher with a better 60', usually the 330' will tell you if your trap will go up.

That said, using statistical averages, cars usually trap 79% of their 1/4 trap in the 1/8th. So yours would be 116.5 - 117.7 on those runs.

Seems like I recall using the 1/8 #'s X 1.55...

that formula doesnt work because it doesnt take into account for 60'. That formula works only for a fixed 60', not a variable one. I had a formula a few years ago that i came up with. But that computer crashed long ago and took all my statistics i had compiled :(

It's close enough; I think we can assume similar 60' times for the same car...

FWIW, when I was trapping 93mph in the 1/8, I was running 11.6@120. Different vehicle of course, but at least that gives you an idea.

how can you assume same 60'?? and you still have to consider trap speeds. with a formula like that, a car that goes 8.5 @ 95mph in the 8th is going to 1/4 the same as a car that goes 8.5 @ 85mph. It does simply does not work. it may work as a general rule of thumb, for a ball park estimate with a range of maybe .5 seconds, or more, but in drag racing, that is just WAY to big of a variation to be of ANY use.

Thanks for the info. There were cars with Hoosiers/ET Streets trapping in the 92-95 mph range and running 7.4-7.7. I was just happy that I was able to get the mph that i was with the launches that I was getting. On a 91 mph run, I had to get all of the way out of the gas because of some nasty wheel hop, and immediately shifted to second only 20 feet down the track.
I know all cars are very diff in relation to mph and ET, and the formulas are as a rule are not that accurate. Thanks again.

8.2 with a 2.2 60ft would be about a 12.5-12.6. My car, with a decent 60ft 1.56 is right, with a bad 60ft I have seen 1.53.

Not to hyjack, but what do you guys think of this: my car ran 6.929 in the 1/8 mile with a 1.748 60' time and 110.2mph. Obviously the car should've ran quicker than 6.929, but how much quicker? What would you guys thing the car would run in the 1/4?

10.6-10-7
7 flat with PD blower will get you a high 10. With your trap speed (you suck) JK. it should get down a little further.

With you 1/8 mile trap speed, your 60' should be in the high 1.30's to low 1.40's. This would put you in the 6.4 range in the 1/8mile which in turn would put you in the 9.9 range in the 1/4. Sounds like you need suspension and traction.

I'm not saying that at all, the irs is stronger than most give it credit for. I ran in the 10's with completely stock irs. There are guys in the 9's with the irs. I would say you could still be in the low 10's even with the irs.
