The Tbird could really use the better gearing. Will it bolt up? How will the computer react?

Totally different animal with the electronics. I'd say it's doable if you do the whole 3V and auto tranny along w/ EEC transplant.

Best bet is just change gears, maybe 3.73's/4.10's and a higher stall converter. I'm no expert but that's what I'd love to do to my bird. I'm getting horrible TC shuddering now so it will be time to replace..

At least do some 4.10s.
With the auto I'd do 4.30s.

JasonSnake, my T-Bird had a shutter through the converter too.
My tranny guy said the fluid was probably starting to varnish on the converter clutch surfaces which makes it shutter under partial lock-up.
He did a power flush and slowly the shutter began to dissipate. After about 100 miles the shutter was gone.
He said a regular fluid change does not remove enough of the old fluid.
If the fluid hasn't been changed in a while a power flush gets most of the old contaminated fluid out.
