Edited..04 Six speed..3:55 gears..TT Project..

2001 Cobra being forged for an Ati-P1sc Procharger goal is 545hp at the wheel...

Does anyone here have a 6-speed if so what gears are better..4:10's or 4:30 daily driver....

Whats better for regular street racing..oops i didnt say that ahhh for racing at the track lol

This is old...

Here’s new plan...Billet,Built engine ! Built tranny, rear, suspension...Custom

TT .My plans for power, Alot of power...Ill leave it at that. Ill let my numbers

on the dyno and track speak for themselves. 3.55 gears will be used for my

project

Again Thanks for all the Input Guys,

I have a 96 with a T-56 out of a 00' cobra R. Same as the 03 and 04's. I run have 4.30's and they are great! Very streetable and gas milage is still what it was with the 5 speed and 4.10's.

545 hp and 4.30s I hope you can fit a set of 335s under the backend, Id stay with 355s or 373s with that much power. You dont need the torque multiplication that 4.10 or 4.30 gears will give you. hth 2881

I went with 4.30s on my car because Im N/A and plan on staying that way,,,,for now.

That's the thing though...he does need the torque multiplication. A 4v with a centri blower = no torque. I say go with the 4.30s and also say go with the D1 if you can spare the extra cash.

With that supercharger if you add anything lower than 4.10's NO street tire will hook up. Take my word for it and stick with 3.73's unless you want to lose streetability.

with my 4.30's and a mere 396 I break them loose in first and second and half or third with hard shifting. Now when I bolt up the BFG drag radials its a whole diff story with 25psi on the street they hook hard with just a hair of tire spin in first. Now down low the car has just about as much hp as it did stock (feel of pants hp) and I know if I had 3.55 or 3.73's it wouldnt be that much fun on the street. If you were making 575 with say a positive displacment (eaton, kenne bell, whipple what have) then yes traction would be very hard to get in any rpm range. But since your centrifical blower dosent really make boost till the upper half of the rpm range I would think that 4.10's would be the better gear.

with 550+rwhp ur lookin at 130+ traps speeds...a 4.10 is as far as id go with that much power...id prolly go more like a 3.90 or 3.73.

I agree, stick with 3.73 or under, maybe 3.90 tops. The top end charge of a 4v with an S-trim is enough to break 315 nittos loose like it's no one's business. I plan on getting 3.73s b/c personally I think my car will be more enjoyable to drive.

Go ahead and get 4.30s but I hope you like starting off in second b/c otherwise you'll usually have to shift out of first before you're halfway through an intersection.

What is your torque goal is the more important question? At what rpm do you hope to make it at. Don't do gears until you find out where your peaks are occuring. Unless your peak torque is going to come in at 5500rpm go with 3.90's unless this is a drag only car. I think 4.10 would be max you would want to go.

Dyno it first then do gears, just my suggestion. It is kinda ass backwards to do gears first then get your horsepower/torque if you know what I am trying to say.
