I know that this has been debated to death in the past, but who can explain this. I've been using 5W-30 (Mobil 1) exclusively since the car was new. Like so many others, the oil level was always in the bottom half of the "acceptable" range on the dipstick, usually towards the lower mark. As...
Saw this Q/A about spark plugs in the Tech Correspondence section in the latest issue of Road and Track (Sept. 04), and thought it might be of interest for those of you with S/C motors. Especially if the illustration in the last paragraph of the answer describes a high RPM problem that you...
I understand that one of the readings taken by the traction control and ABS systems as part of their job is differential in wheel speed between the front and rear wheels. If you run tires of different sizes front to back, will this be a problem for these systems? Say like 265 front and 285-295...
If you want to dress up the motor. But the cost ($240) is a wee-bit pricey.

OK, I decided to give the PHP intake spacer a try and went ahead and ordered it thinking it should be no problem to install if it works OK on the Mach I. Well, I ran into a problem. The EGR pipe is more or less a rigid, fixed-length pipe. With the spacer and gasket raising the intake lid...
Not sure if this was posted here yet, but a thread over on blueovalnews had a great article on the SVT engine builders at the Romeo engine plant. Good read!

Outside of keeping pieces of a catostrophic air filter failure out of the motor, what else does this do, if anything? Is there any kind of significant air flow increase (and HP) with it removed?
Just perusing the new Road & Track and noticed Tire Rack's current ad. They've got a bunch of very usefully-sized 17" and 18" Pilot Sports and Sport A/S's for $179/tire. These usually go anywhere from $260-$330/tire. If you're looking for tires, might be worth considering as they only seem to...
Rear brake piston compression
After the new pads go in, do you do any adjustment with piston compression tool if the piston is farther into the caliper bore than it needs to be? Or do you just let the auto adjusters take care of it?
Thanks.....
When I swapped the springs and shocks out a while back, I checked the rear brake pad thickness which looked like it could go quite a while longer. The car has 43K on the odo, and gets a lot of freeway driving. In any case, I started noticing more brake dust showing up on the right rear rim over...
I want to use some new 1/2" slide on-type spacers that Maximum Motorsport just came out with, but it would involve going to longer wheel studs. How hard are they to change? Does it involve removing disc/hub or any other part of the brake or halfshaft assembly? In other words, they are a press...
with a 4 page complete intro inside. The sides and rear look terrific, but I have a problem with the front. Definitely a 66 through 69 combo look, but the huge driving lights in the grill of the GT doesn't do anything for me. They are as large, or larger than the headlights. Could be worse I...
Was looking at the back of the car, and it appeared that it wasn't sitting level. Measured the space from the ground to the top of the wheel arch, and found that the right side of the car (both front and back) sat about 1/4"-3/8" higher than the left side.
LF - 27 1/4"
LR - 27 1/8"
RF...
OK, after a lot of research, I went ahead and ordered a set from Steeda today. During my conversation with the rep, he went on to selling me on getting the CC plates and/or OR bushings now to do the job all at once. I've gotten advice in the past that these are not necessarily needed since the...
