Can't find Moates QuarterHorse for sale anywhere

Tweecer seems to be the only EEC turner left on the market.

    Clutch problems

Is that an aftermarket cable? Every aftermarket cable I've used broke or the housing would collapse and pinch the cable. After 3 or 4 aftermarket cables, I only use Ford cables now.

IAC Issues | Motorcraft CX-1661 Obsolete???

If you can't find new Motorcraft on anything electronic, I'd recommend hunting used parts. I grab small parts like this every time I visit the bone yard. LKQ typically charges about $5 for these. The amount of junk in the aftermarket these days is amazing. If it doesn't turn around many...

    School me about flex fuel

You may not be able to get away with a single E85 tune on pump E85. They are not required to always have 85% ethanol and can vary quite a bit. Flex-fuel vehicles have a sensor to detect the amount of ethanol in the fuel and adjust timing accordingly. If you want to be sure you are always...

    Issues installing McCloud Clutch

I'm not seeing the problem here. When the pressure plate is bolted onto the flywheel the clutch is engaged and will not move. When you tighten it to the flywheel you are compressing the springs of the clutch. The throwout bearing presses the fingers in to disengage the clutch. This is why...

    Exhaust restriction question

The Flowmasters will always be a horsepower restriction. Have a look at David Vizard's video on mufflers: David Vizard's PowerTec 10 EP 27 Zero loss sound legal muffler systems

    SN95 Part Availability?

Congrats! Nice looking Cobra. The salvage yard is your friend. There are lots of SN95s in the yards now. There's a fair amount of aftermarket parts when it comes to the drive train. Cobra-specific parts can be hard to find. I do find some NOS parts periodically on fleaBay.

    Carpet question

I've been trying to get pictures attached but the resolution limit on this site is an absolute pain from a phone that's minimum resolution is too high. Send me your email in PM and I'll send you picks. I have factory carpet in my 94 Cobra.

My New 94 Cobra Pace Car

Congrats on the Pace Car! Looks great! Own one myself with 137K miles. Curious, who was your insurance company? To me, that doesn't look like a total for a Cobra. Though insurance companies love to profit off the "salvage value".

    Active Exhaust

I did a fair amount of hunting to do this myself a couple of years ago. All the solutions I could find had some pretty serious downsides. Exhaust cut-outs. Louder than I really want, but also brings rattle noises and reliability problems for any that are electrically activated. Active...

    Compression tester

The plug is a tapered seat. See the shiny band. The compression tester has a flat seat. The flat seat is bottoming out before the threads reach.

    High mileage convertible???

Maintained 135K is not a big deal. I personally put 285K on an '89 GT. I kept it all stock and it ran just a good the day I sold as it did new. I have the 1/4 mile time slip to prove it. That being said, problems can hide. I bought an all-stock '94 Cobra two years ago with 130K on the...

    97 Cobra Advice

Besides the obvious fluid changes all around, get a borescope so you can pull the plugs and inspect the cylinder walls. If they have a light hazing of rust or less, you should be fine. Squirt some oil in each cylinder towards the high side to get the rings lubed. Obviously, if they are...

Help with fuel pump upgrade on a 98’

I don't have any suggestions on a pump, however, the long crank could be a sign of the fuel pressure regulator or an injector leaking while the engine is off. Be sure to check the fuel pressure isn't bleeding off.

    Cobra Interior Question

I recovered mine with this cloth on Amazon: It was very close to the original. I used Super 77 adhesive. In the picture, the bottom grill still has original cloth on it. The top one is the recovered grill.

    New clutch?

I have the Mcleod RST and consider it very light on the pedal in comparison to every other clutch I've had in my Fox and SN95 Mustangs. It's still much firmer than the 4 cyl cars I've had. As torque output goes up so does the strength of the clutch. You might want to check your cable...

Ever installed urethane bushings and they got wore out quickly?

Sounds like they were too soft for the job. Urethanes can be made anywhere from spongy to rock hard. What brand did you use? I haven't used poly bushing in years because of the noise they make. I'm running rubber bushing now, but I'm likely going to try Delrin bushing soon. Delrin is...

Jet hot vs local ceramic coating

Knowing nothing about the "local guy", I can't say if it's better or worse. The most important part of any coating is the preparation. The parts need to be cleaned and blasted on every surface getting coated.

My 7 month SN-95 bottom restoration project! (Video)

In a garage without a moisture barrier in the floor, there can be a lot of moisture coming out of the ground. This will take its toll on the underside of a car. I purchased a '66 Mustang a few years back that was similarly corroded when stored in an old garage for two decades after it was...

My 7 month SN-95 bottom restoration project! (Video)

Hats off to you! Many others would have flipped the car once again. Goes to show the importance of moisture control where you store your cars. I hope I can one day have my pace car looking as good. Thanks for sharing!

    head gasket trouble?

Unless you're getting lots of blow-by or coolant in your oil, it is definitely not the head gasket. I'd call that marginal unless it's okay warm. Get it warm and test #6 and #7 again. If they are still low there's some reason for concern. Otherwise your golden. It ultimately comes down to...

    Torque Plates material?

Torque plates are about applying clamping load to the block to cause the same distortion as the heads. The material does not matter, the stiffness does. But now you're getting into some complex engineering questions. Unless your honing equipment is high end, I doubt torque plates are...

    Motor Mount Questions

I can't say specifically for your 97 Cobra, but it's still technically a Foxbody. I last change the motor mounts on an '89 GT. It's fairly easy if you have a cherry picker to support the engine. It can be done in about an hour. Just lift the motor about an inch or two and they can be...

    slipping?

When disengaged the throwout bearing should not be resting against the clutch fingers. If it is, the clutch could not be fully engaged and you will wear out the throwout bearing really fast. You should be able to see a slight gap. This can be caused by over-tightening the adjustable cable or...
