Ok guys, rebuilding IRS and went ahead and did gears while it was out... also running an O/R prochamber .... picked up a used SCT SF3 and i'm wondering who y'all use for email tuning... lund tuned my 14' 5.0 but it looks like they don't do 01's .... local dyno tunes are expensive and long wait...
So my IRS is currently out (doing gears, bushings, sway bar links, lowering springs, shocks, etc...) and i have a set of adjustable outter tie rod ends to go with it. i have no stock bump steer measurements and frankly don't have a way to measure it. also, besides youtube videos i have 0...
i'm pretty confused here. i'd assume you'd get a decent little gain if you're doing the mods and tune at the same time .... intake, full exhaust and a tune should make the car feel alot better than stock !
Ok guys, got my IRS removed today to do bushings and what do ya know .. looks like the CV boot cracked a long time ago and leaked out not sure when, I just got the car.
Wondering what axle shaft I should get .. not looking to drop $1000 on them .. stock car for now.
Hopefully procharger later...
Well, got it all out. Took a laid back half day. Stopped to eat breakfast, goof off... Wasn't that hard getting out!! We'll see how how the next step goes later lol
i have the ambers on my 01, and i honestly don't like them.. i'm just not crazy enough to remove them because the next owner may want them as a make or break item on a sale.
So, i'm trying to break up the project over 3 weekends. i'll be removing the IRS and doing all new bushings, front diff brace, diff cover brace ect... i'll be doing it in the garage on jackstands.
i'd like to hear what issues you ran into, and what the solution was... figured if i get some...
03 white snake.... Have you got that back in the car ? Whats the seat of the pants difference after all that work? Is your car a drag car or what? I don't believe I've seen anybody else weld the rear like that so honeslho curious if it effects anything or if it's peace of mind....
If it makes a difference.. my car is a weekend toy that I will drive the crap out of. Hit the drag strip for fun every now and then and just beat on. Not a daily but I do drive it to work in nice weather (it's a vert)
Mm has kits at $600, $900, $1,100
Ftbr has kits at $700, $800, $1,100 ($1,100 does include diff cover that's needed for their drop bushings)
These are no labor at all. Just $40 worth of bushings that they've been making bank on lol.
Im all for capitalism so, more power to them. No doubt. Lol
So I've looked over and over.... And I'm trying to get opinions based off ofof person experiences.. what brand bushings have you put in your IRS? My rear diff is leaking and I'm having a hard time paying $1,000 for bushings.. I know there's only a few companies making them, but I think it's...
Ok, so I need to get my car on 4 jack stands so I can drop the irs, and put rotors on the front. I did the clutch last week on a lift and used the jack points (pinch welds) but I will not be doing this on a lift.
Since jack stands are "U" shaped I don't believe they can be used at the pinch...
