I drove my 03 to work today for the first time in two weeks. I live in OC and work in Corona. It seemed that every other car on the road tried to run me today...every type of car...every type of driver. When I got to work I looked at the back of my car to see if someone put a "RACE ME" sign...
about the low number of posts on this Southwest board. I am in SoCal, but am about to relocate to AZ...are Cobra owners even allowed there??? Something is not right.
Do the 04 Cobra coupes come with factory subframe connectors?
The reason I ask is that I did the first oil change on my sister's 04 Mach1 COUPE today and it has OE subframe connectors. Granted, they dont look to be the most substantial ones available, made from approx. 1-1/4" square...
Just sharing info: I'm just back from the local Ford parts counter where I bought an extra set of the "SVT 10th Anniversary" logo'd front floormats...to use when I show the car (current set gets abused daily).
I was shocked at the price = $44.00 list for the set from Ford (part #...
Maybe I'm crazy.....correction: I know I'm crazy, but I have noticed something funny with my gas mileage. I use two gas stations only...a Mobil in Corona and a Mobil in Garden Grove.
I consistently get 20 - 30 more miles per tank with the Corona gas. I commute the same route and drive...
...just a reminder to anyone interested...tomorrow is the automotive swap meet at Veteran's Stadium in Long Beach.
I'm gonna pick up some rags and cleaning towels...and just cruise the aisles. :coolman:
My '03 Cobra radio has a button in the lower left corner marked "CD".
My sis just bought an '04 Mach1 and that same button on her radio is marked "SAT".
I haven't read her manual yet...WTF is that SAT button for?
...is that feature on the '04 Cobra also?
Do I need to trade up my '03 to...
like a stuck-up dumb-ass I was day dreaming at a red light today on Bolsa Chica (& Edinger?) and was totally oblivious to a red Cobra coupe that pulled up next to me and sat there during the cycle. I realized he was there just as I began to pull away...I tried to go as slow as...
My sister called me this morning and asked if I would go with her to buy a PT Cruiser today (she has wanted one for a long time).
I said sure...she came by my house and we took my Cobra. In route to the Chrysler dealer I asked if she would mind taking a look at a Mustang...she said okay, so...
I hope everyone realises that when you post your build # it can be tied to your VIN by Ford. So I suspect that anybody listing this is only kidding about any mod's or any racing they do...because we all know that this could void our warranties.
Be careful! :bash:
My friend works with a guy that raced his Z06 at Carlsbad this last weekend. He told my friend that you guys in the Cobras really kicked his butt...he was beat every time he lined up next to one of you.
GREAT JOB guys !!!
:burnout:
American Racing Wheels needs to use an '03 Cobra for a photo shoot next Tuesday (10/28). I was scheduled to do this but something came up.
If you want your car to be famous, PM me ASAP for details.
It will be in the So. Cal. area.
after two months of waiting...they finally arrived. Picked 'em up at DMV today.
When you see "XS PONYS" driving like a fool out there...it's me.
Give me a wide berth 'cus I'm old and always angry. :cuss:
The infamous Calif. "Survey Party Ahead" group is in Corona. I saw them pulling cars over today on Magnolia just east of McKinley. Co-workers told me they have been in the area all week.
For those of you that don't know about this...these are state run traveling "Smog Check" traps. They...
While talking with the technician that dyno'd my '03 today, he told me that he did some dyno pulls a while back for some Ford SVT Engineers that were in SoCal testing an '03.
They told him to use a 19% - 20% multiplier to determine engine HP from RWHP. They told him to use this high %...
okay....here 'tis:
TODAY:
412hp/406tq SAE @ 2316 miles
with: K&N CAI, Magnaflow O/R Xpipe (no cats) + MF catbacks, Predator Sport Performance tune (not pulley).
9/18/03:
355hp/361tq @ 1214 miles
100% OE factory stock
both runs were on Dynojet dynos.
NOW I can go put that damn...
I'm sitting here at 10:20pm looking at my new 2.93 pulley/idler/belt just sitting in a box in my living room. I'm trying to control the urge to go to the garage & install them.
I have a dyno appointment set up for this Wed...and I wanted to test just the CAI & O/R exhaust before I install...
Give me some hope please.... What are some "quick times" that you have done/seen with a 2.93 pulley?
I know most of the really quick times are with a 2.8...but I need to back that off a notch.
Your best dyno # with a 2.93 would help too.
Thanks! :burnout:
okay...I was only gettin 175 - 185 miles to a tank (didn't calculate mileage 'cus it would have depressed me) ...but since installing my O/R X's and cat-backs (MagnaFlow) that has jumped markedly.
I noticed that I got over 200mi on the first tank after the install ...and 230 on the next tank...
I thought this "finished" off the flow of the red in the interior...what do ya think???
Oh yeah, so you purists don't hyper-ventilate...I saved all of the OE parts, these are new parts that I had painted.
I don't know if this will help prevent the leaky diff scenerio...but it sure won't hurt. When I installed my catbacks I installed heat shields right where they pass closest to the diff. They cannot be seen from behind.
Just thought I'd share........
This is my first post on this forum (although I have been lurking since mid-August).
The first thing I want to do is thank you all (especially SNKBITE) for the gift I just received from Ford...my $2500 rebate check! You see, I bought my Cobra on 8/27...the very day that the rebate started...
