    Clutch Recommendations for Daily Driving

I have been running a Luk RepSet clutch, PN L07042 for 2.5 years. I had it on a turned stock flywheel and now I have it on a Fidanza aluminum flywheel. It has a very nice feel and has held up well to many many autocross runs on sticky tires. It is impossible to beat for $78 on Rock Auto.

Subframe Connectors and levelling the car

Try a needle scalar next time your are removing sound deadener. Worked well for me. If you have a laser level that broadcasts a level line, use that to shim as much level as possible before welding. You may find it's as good as it will get right now, but it's great piece of mind.

    Upper Intake Refinishing

The actual cast surface is very tough. So if you strip the original coating, plan on some time to sand and smooth the casting before you paint. I stripped mine with aircraft paint stripper and did a lot of grinding, sanding, and smoothing. Then I sand blasted to give it a uniform texture and...

Lets see your modded B Head Intakes.

Here you go. I machined that mounting block. Inlet air to the IAC turns 90 degrees in the block. Then I simply drilled and tapped the intake. I used a 3/4 NPT bushing at the intake. I tapped the intake deep so the bushing threaded almost all the way. Then I cut off the extra threads so it was...

Lets see your modded B Head Intakes.

Not really. Just finished product pics. Cut it all off, weld it all up. Then I machined a mounting block for the IAC and mounted the block and IAC at the very back of the intake so it's out of sight.

Throttle body shaft and iac leaks

The body of the IAC is made to leak. That cap on it is a vacuum vent. It is there to keep the IAC from getting stuck in a closed position under engine vacuum. The 03/04 Cobra IAC uses what I assume to be a stronger solenoid so that a vacuum vent isn't required. It uses the same port...

Lets see your modded B Head Intakes.

Here's mine. I smoothed the intake both externally and internally. The EGR and vacuum cast ports are completely ground smooth inside. Everything is TIG welded.

    Airflow Results for Degreed Cams

Airflow comes from the MAF. For the case of both the before and after I had a wideband on the car that was verifying the AFR coming out matched the AFR demanded. The injectors, fuel pressure, and wideband were all the same for before/after comparison. If AFR is correct, and all else is...

    Airflow Results for Degreed Cams

I finally got some seat time with the new engine and I have the tune pretty well wrapped up. I pulled data from old data logs and compared to new. I have the cams at 109/115 Int/Exh. Before they were stock (stock 97 Cobra cams). Check out not only the difference in airflow but where peak...

    Parts availability for cam degreeing

That is the same sprocket set (S-793-9 MADE IN USA) that Trick Flow sells for half the money, which is the set I used. I believe it is manufacturer by Cloyes. Typical MMR price mark up and marketing fluff right there.

Degreed cams and lost torque below 2k room?

Well I figured it out. I hate publicly admitting this, but I like providing closure to threads because it may help somebody down the road. I built this motor and degreed cams and somehow lost track of bank to bank timing. Therefore, I had both banks in time with each other. Or another way to...

    I did. No response.

Degreed cams and lost torque below 2k room?

So there's not a single person on this forum with degreed cams these days?

Degreed cams and lost torque below 2k room?

Is your increased "clutch chatter" during clutch operation? All of my increased vibrations are in a gear with clutch out. That TOB noise is actually gear rattle. What you're hearing are the constant mesh gears in the transmission bouncing back and forth between the drive and coast side of the...

Degreed cams and lost torque below 2k room?

Thanks for the info. It's a Steeda under driver damper and I had the rotating assembly balanced with the new damper and flywheel. With your fidanza flywheel, did you notice any additional vibrations during lugging situations or any "gear rattle" with clutch out in neutral. Both of these are...

Degreed cams and lost torque below 2k room?

*Title should say rpm, not room* I just finished with a fresh rebuild. 97 Cobra engine with 11:1 compression and stock 97 cams degreed to 109 ICL and 114.5 ECL. From what I've read on here, a very common modification. From 3 to 7k, it runs great. But below 2500 and especially bad below 2000...

B head plug wires with flexible boot?

Yeap. I sorted through a bunch of COP boots at the parts store today. I found something that might work. Feels a bit hillbilly modifying a plug boot but at this point my options are pretty limited. Thanks for the replies.

B head plug wires with flexible boot?

Negative on that. The cylinder on the top of the hydraboost is directly in line with #8. I need something flexible like a COP boot.

B head plug wires with flexible boot?

I finally have the engine (97 Cobra) back in my car (62 Comet). Last time I did this I had the wires already on the engine. This time I didn't and I just realized I cannot install the #8 wire without removing my hydraboost unit. It just barely interferes. If I had a wire set where the long...

    Oil cooler nessasary?

Like I mentioned in my initial response, it's a 97 Cobra driveline in a 62 Mercury Comet. So I doubt my mounting setup helps you any. It's in the driver's wheel well mounted to the backside of the header panel, way up in the front corner. I have the fans on a switch controlled relay. I only...

    Oil cooler nessasary?

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-15845/ I plumbed a remote mount oil filter and the above oil cooler all in -10AN line. I've never seen oil temp above 200F.

    Oil cooler nessasary?

I have a 97 Cobra engine in a 62 Comet. The factory oil cooler hit the frame rail so I had to run a GT cooler. I mostly autocross this car and occasionally run an open tack day. I have an oil temp sensor in the pan. The oil gets ridiculously hot in a hurry without the factory cooler. No...

    Parts availability for cam degreeing

A couple updates for this thread. For filing the secondary gears, the amount to file that I posted earlier is confirmed. I needed to moved the intake 4 degrees, so I filed .024" (.006 x 4) off the sprocket key and sure enough that moved my ICL by 4 degrees. For hand filing, I found that the...
