Did they give an estimate on how much the damage to the Ferrari was?

Ripped a hole in the CF body

It occurred on first free practice, within about 9 min.

From what I read, Sainz needed a new chassis and transmission. I read that Sainz could look through floor board and see road, meaning that it could have lead to a severe injury.

Driver then penalized 10 places for new equipment.

The fans were treated badly, including having to walk great distances to get to their seats.

Fans also kicked out when they waited hours to watch second practice session on first day.

It's a great way to try and get people to think the last F1 race at Indy was not as much of a crapshow.

Ended up being one of the most exciting races on the calendar and after the day 1 cluster everything went off smooth. The racing was really surprisingly good; much more so than a lot of the parade sessions on the calendar.

They need to move it earlier in the year so it’s not so cold and get over the fact Europe will not be able to watch live at 7 AM. Start time should have been 8 pm at the latest, and it needs to be a time of year where people can wear t-shirts. The schedule was exhausting, to the benefit of pretty much nobody.

Either way, it will soon be the centerpiece of the season. For a year one effort, it was pretty amazing.

**** that race. It turned our city into a cluster**** for 3 months. Traffic has been a shit show since August. Maybe it won't be so bad next year because they have now done it once, but damn, it was miserable.
