Thoughts on this Shelby GT?

I have always liked the look of the S197 Shelby GT. This one is supercharged and I'm wondering what all of you think of the price? What kind of performance can I expect with the SC? I wouldn't track it, it would be a putt-around town kind of car that I would lay into once in a while.

Other than having to fix the badging, I think it looks great.

If that's what you are into it's not bad. Personally I'd buy from @lOOKnGO, he has a nice Shelby for cheap. I would also look on here you can get a real 07/09 Shelby for about the same price or a little more

Would be hard for me to spend that kind of coin on a stock bottom end/trans 3V even with the low miles

That’s gonna be a no for me. $30k for that isn’t gonna happen. Spend a little more money and get a GT500 in that body style.

No way.

I was never a big fan of the late model Shelby GT mainly due to its 3V motor. I always saw it as a poor man's Shelby GT-500 without the blower. If you just really like this model, go for it. The price isn't outrageous if you search for current day values. Here's another one, but with only 693 miles and its a desired manual transmission. $37,801.00

No, I was referring to the starter of this thread to check out your car . To me, a better choice than the Shelby GT he’s asking about.

I agree that the GT-500 will always trump the Shelby GT. But the Shelby GT will also garner attention because it's relatively unknown to most people. I've seen ONE Shelby GT. That's it. And that was because an old friend of mine used to own a Shelby GT. He bought it (new) because he couldn't afford a GT-500.

I prefer the look of the S197 Shelby vs the GT500...having said that i do own a GT500.

In some circles the GT is considered more of a "true" Shelby than the GT500. The GT's were shipped to Shelby Automobile's facility in Las Vegas have a Shelby VIN.

The GT's have been underappreciated for a long time. I'd hit one in a heart beat

The '07 Shelby GT was conceived as a spiritual reincarnation of the 65-66 GT350. It's a shame it didn't come with 350hp but that's easily achieved with a couple of bolt ons and a tune.
The question is whether you consider $28k worth paying for what is admittedly a very nice-looking, low mileage car. It might become a future collector's car simply because it's a Shelby and, as such, it's best kept as original as possible.
If you want to supercharge it, you're better off buying a GT500 instead. The amount you'd spend building the 4.6 short block and adding a supercharger kit wouldn't be worth the extra cost on a Shelby GT, and the mods would also reduce it's value IMO.
