Has anyone ever gone from a 2.9 Whipple to a 2.3?

Malcolm, could the creep you see also be in part to when you ran the restrictor on the BPV trying to solve the off idle surge?

No I ran that all of 1 day, maybe 2. I did not care for that restrictor setup. Even so once the bypass was closed you got all the boost. That extra second or so for the bypass to close created a lag I did not like. I love the instantaneous hit of power when you mash the go pedal on a PD blower car :)

Fwiw I’m at @3800’

2.9 upper stock lower.

I’d probably see 22-23 at sea level.

Wonder if the elevation is why I don’t see the creep you would.

15% on the price of a 2.3 is awfully hard to beat and i'm sure you'll be super happy with it

That's all part of hotrodding. I'm just glad God has blessed me to be able to fund this expensive ass hobby.

lol amen, that's the truth right there. I'd have done several things differently if I started over, but live and learn... and break things, fix them and repeat.

OK, I'm gonna get the 2.3. The 15% off deal is back on Lethal.

I'm gonna install it and send it to JDM Engineering for a tune. I'm gonna grab an alternator too. He said that he's going to install GT fuel pumps. I'm not sure if he's going to use the BAP but I'm going to leave it all in his hands.
I had to swap my stock alternator out to a KMJ. If you’re doing the install yourself, enjoy.

2.9 here, return system, dyno'd 640 through a slipping clutch at 18psi and trapped 137 with a new clutch. 1.40 60' so this thing is definitely NOT lazy down low.

I'm contemplating getting a Whipple during the 15% off sale and I was set on a 2.3 since I don't plan on going past 580-600 at the wheels (I don't want to go return style) but I read that the 2.9 is a better design.....then I read that the 2.9 is lazier down low if you pulley it for 13-15 lbs.

Has anyone ever tried both blowers or went from a 2.9 to 2.3 and it felt better on the street?

Thanks

I did not have w/e gen 2.9 they are on now ....Gen 17, 18? lol

My '04 SY, ported eaton to 2.9 Whipple with return fuel setup to a VMP Gen 1 2.3 all on the same car, dyno and tuner

Wifes Comp Orange car 2.3 Whipple with 4# caged lower, full bolt on car

TVS > Twin screw for a street car.
Whipple wins the looks competition

The TVS provided 50# more of TQ and almost the same HP. Did the TVS run a little hotter, probably and didn't care because street car. I like the low to mid pulls on the street, thats where a TVS operates and so do 98% of the drivers out there

If you want more data, PM me

Gen 2 TVS 2.3 with GT500 throttle body here. I love this little blower on E85 with the supporting mods.

I overlaid our dynos a bit even though not quite apples to apples but you can see where the 2.3 does seem to pick up a bit quicker on initial hit with the torque. You also made a good bit more torque than I did with my 645, but it was interesting to see the charts.

My 2.9 at 23lbs is more violent than when I had my 2.3 at the same boost level. If your going to run 15lbs I would stick with the eaton. Don't waste your money. Twinscrews, 18lbs and up. Built motors different story.

I got a 3.0 whipple coming. My 2.9 will be for sale late spring. The 2.9 was the best twinscrew I have ever owned. I figured I have one last blower swap in me. I forgot how many I did. Iv owned and driven every single blower setup on this car.

A TVS will hit harder down low. Im surprised the TVS cult isn't going crazy jumping up and down. They were worse than the LSX boys back in the day.
