Nitto NT555RII - Availability?

Time to bring out the Shelby (finally). Stopped by the Ford dealer this morning to get an inspection on another car and was asking about tires for the Shelby, specifically 305/35/20 NT555RII for the rear. We looked them up and none are in stock from Tirerack. Has anyone had any luck finding these? I know availability has been difficult for tires in general recently/through the pandemic. Any impressions for anyone having driven with them (not looking at Toyo's/others only because I have Nitto G2's on the front and don't want to mix/match manufacturers). Appreciate the input, thanks.

Lethal might have them in stock. @Jake@Lethal

Otherwise Nitto has a NT-05R and NT555R as other options if you're not partial to the 555RII.

From what it looks like the NT05Rs are discontinued and 555R2 is the only drag radial Nitto currently sells. But yes they have been on back order for a long time.

Correct on all accounts, old ones obsoleted, new ones on backorder, thus my dilemma/question.

You can try and get some 305/35R20 MT ET street SS tires, that's what I have on mine. Or some 305/35R20 Toyo R888R.

OK, Lethal's got 'em, question is due to the profile/wheel, the local Ford dealer doesn't want to mount/balance (blaming it on older "equipment")...what should I be looking for/asking at a tire shop other than "be careful of these expensive wheels!", ha!?

I’d recommend a national change like Discount Tire or try another local Ford dealer.
Good luck and please give feedback on the RIIs

My first experience with the Nitto 555R2 was impressive on all 4 tires on my TrackHawk. Hooks like velcro. Had the PS4's on there and wow can I say how utterly USELESS them tires are!

Maybe for playing Nascar and hitting exit ramps at a 100 mph their great but not for dig traction their the worst ive ever experienced!

The 305/35 20 wasnt hard for me to find but the 315/35 20 was but I ordered them about a month ago so im told they will ship the first week of May.

But I put a hole thru my Trackhawk block the other day lol so its now getting a 426ci and some Thitek heads with a ported Magnuson......

I ended up ordering from Discount Tire Direct, since while Lethal had these in stock I couldn't find anyone willing to mount them. It took this long to get both tires in from the west coast to the only DTD store in Pittsburgh (oddly, 1 came in fairly quickly and the 2nd tire took over a month afterwards). At least it gave me an excuse to drive to the other side of Pittsburgh on a beautiful Friday and put a few miles on her. The DTD guys were very professional, quick, and courteous. I asked them to be careful with the Alcoas for obvious reasons and they were very accommodating/careful. Highly recommend them next time around. I had the 555Rs on for 6 years and ~ 5000 miles of fairly easy travel. They were at the wear bears/<2/32's, so you really don't get a lot out of them. You could tell they were getting older as they would chirp when making a 90 deg right/left turn under moderate acceleration and on 1/2 and 2/3 shift under power. The new RII's on the other hand are quiet and hold much better on hard acceleration. They also seem more stable at higher speed. Likely due to corrected air pressure(s) and the newer compound/tires compared to used tires. I'll need to try some more launches/high RPM shifts/driving (I saw a cloud in the sky so we had to go back to the barn ;) ) and get more miles on them to get a better picture, but at this point they seem to be a definite upgrade from the original 555Rs which were a decent tire (and obvious upgrade to the original GY's). When I figure how to get pics from my phone, I'll show the differences, etc.

I have found stability at higher speed is typically a function of how well the tires are balanced. I've gone to tire places and my teeth shake loose after 65mph. Started going to a Ford dealership and now the same tires are good to 90mph+.

Thank you for your business and positive feedback Kel! Glad to hear the tires are working well for you.
