Are there any online directions for how to remove the rear quarter panels? I'm considering doing it myself since body shop quotes are pretty expensive. All I know is it's a cut & weld endeavor (but I'd likely replace weld with panelbond since I would go the carbon fiber route to prevent future rust issues)

Get a copy of the 2003 Mustang (Cobra) Service Manual. It's a must-have for stuff like this. You can either download it for free, or I can sell you a CD for $5.00 plus postage.

Remove the sails, rear quarter glass and possibly the rear window. Drill the spot welds that hold the panel in place; my car was hit in the right rear quarter and they drilled the spot welds and peeled the panel off of both my car and the done rear half they had.

Thanks for the link

Unfortunately no mention of quarter panel removal (convertible) in it ... I guess stuff that has to be chopped/welded they don't like to talk about, lol

Generally service manuals cover parts that bolt on. Stuff like replacing quarters is a learned skill. I'm sure there are a few youtube videos that can guide you.

Since you're looking at carbon fiber you'll want to get the piece in hand before cutting. So you don't cut too much away.

Yea - I think I'm just going to pay the extra to have the bodyshop do it - this seems like one of those things that can go very wrong very quickly if you havn't done it before.
