"A Tesla owner from Finland decided to blow up his car rather than pay an estimated $22,000 to replace the battery.

Tuomas Katainen was beyond finished with his 2013 Tesla Model S after he received the repair estimate. He had to ask himself which would be better: a working Tesla or 66 pounds of dynamite exploding. He chose the latter.

So, Katainen went to the “Bomb Dudes,” or Pommijatkat in Finnish, a YouTube channel known for blowing things up.

The Bomb Dudes rigged the car with dynamite and used a helicopter to bring in a dummy meant to resemble Tesla CEO Elon Musk to take that final ride."

Lmao. Yeah and those real hot and cold temps will do wonders for battery life. 100$ says it will drop to 5 years 100k in the next 5 years tops. Here in CO, it hit -7 while i was driving home Saturday night.

I've been watching the Hydraulic Press Channel on YouTube for a while. They may be a bit hard to understand until you're used to the accent, but they destroy all sorts of stuff on there.

And here we go!

U.M.

Witnessing Hellfire/Brimstone Copper Liners being forged by a 3500T Erie was a sight and sound I still cherish.

Ha! A proper finish. LOL!

This makes me wonder what the Tesla used car market is like today compared to the ICE powered used cars whose re-sales have leaped 39% from just a year ago. Today, the AVERAGE used car price is $29,000. Wonder where Tesla used cars fall.

a friend with a model 3 bought it 2-3 years ago, he filled out the quote form from Carvana or one of those guys and was offered more than he paid for it new. This was within the last 6 months or less.

Super charging an EV battery reduces its life, yet everyone wants nothing but super charging, if they can get it.

EV is the future, until everyone starts needing that 15-25k battery replacement at 5-8 years, unless oems start covering them no questions asked for 8-10 years. Otherwise people will be screaming for their gasoline back.

I can foresee a future where since people are now interested in getting 10 year car notes, they'll just acclimate people to getting another loan in order to pay off the battery replacement.

If gasoline is to be outlawed, what a wonderful way to perpetually make money. /s

Hopefully I'm old enough that I won't see gasoline outlawed in my life. If not, I'll go back to horses.
