Ok fellow Cobra lovers I need a little help. I have an odd rattle that seems to be coming from lower in the engine bay or under the car. It will continue to make the noise even if I let it warm
Up but if I drive it after driving it goes away! Any help would be appreciated! I’m gonna get it the stethoscope today

Ok so I still can’t locate it for sure! I was worried because I noticed it after I just changed the oil and switched to amsoil signature. I believe it is coming from the front of the transmission. Any help would be great. Thanks again. I posted link to videos

You couldn't use a stethoscope? Didn't look like you were using one in the two videos.

For me, TOB has caused noises 98% of the time,,

I've changed mine at least 6 times over the years ,

Had 1 split and caused the fork to bang against transmission,

The other times I had noises ,
Drivers head dropped a valve
And lower caged pulley bushing worn causing post to bang on metal pulley, sounded like a engine tap ,

I used the stethoscope and it seemed to be most noticeable on front of transmission casing and back of oil pan. More noise when put against transmission casing

Based on the noise location, I would have bet it was TOB. This is a stumper.

Doesn’t sound like TOB to me.

Go after it with both the metal end and hose end of the scope.

And putting it in gear changes nothing?

I’ll check what each gear does tomorrow but pretty sure it does not change. If I drive it to work the rattle is no longer happening when I get there. I may have to take it to dealer and have it checked even though I’m skeptical of what they might say.

Last time I had a rattle that went away after driving it was the main timing chain tensioners. But I was able to narrow it down to the front of the engine.

A few years ago a local guy had an engine built by a certain 3 letter company. Shortly after first start it started making noise. Weird thing was you could hear the noise in the trans. A couple of us were sure it was a trans issue. Ended up being an oiling issue in the heads.

My brothers car is a low miler and had a couple instances of turning chain rattle at start up.

Goes away with a light Rev.

Sounded different than what OP has.

Make sure you check the main pulley bushings. Takes 30 seconds.

My guess is the oil is too thick. If you did not change oil wts, just go back to Mobil 1 or your past favorite.
Noise sounds like cam lash adjusters not pumping up.

I changed to amsoil signature 5w30 I don’t think the oil could be to thick. I’m no expert though

And sounds too consistent but cats can rattle

Very hard to differentiate sounds on the phone.

Yeah it’s odd for sure. I put stethoscope on it and loudest sound came through bottom front of transmission casing. I think I’m gonna have to take it to ford unfortunately
