I'm thinking about creating a website for my small business as a place to display my work and possible sell product. What are the good hosting services these days? What are some good resources for building or places that have templates? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money at this point since I'm not making a ton of money.
I don't really know enough about this to know what to ask.
Thanks

using shopify at the moment for $30 a month. The features they dont have there are plenty of apps for, some free, some not. One of my biggest gripes so far is shipping - if you have items that are radically different size and weight you can enter different packaging but it's going to use the one package size/weight by default. So we have it set to the biggest, heaviest item for calculating shipping. I dont feel like paying a monthly fee to be more accurate with it.

Awesome. There’s some good comparison websites that explain the differences, which can be significant.

Some of them take commissions off sales(Shopify), others charge a flat fee.

Other features to consider are page speed, multiple languages, payment methods, ability to connect with Amazon.

Squarespace, Shopify, Wix.

A website without someone directing traffic your way is like a drop in the ocean

For me it depends om how much volume you expect to do, what sort of analytics you want access to, etc. my guess is Shopify will be perfect for you. Plenty of templates, and third party templates to choose from. Shopify has square integrated into it for processing so you dont have to deal with connecting or applying for credit card processor. It will let you purchase a domain through them, link it to your account, so everything is done for you. Doesn't get much easier than that.

With Shopify, can you set restrictions on where you'll ship to? I would assume so. Shopify looks pretty good. I spent the last hour browsing through their primer.
