Difficult but not impossible, if you have a good set of tools and know how, you can do it

If doing both I’d just pull the motor. One of bings where it can be done in the car but you’ll probably end up wishing you pulled it

If you have access to a two-post lift , I would drop the motor in a heartbeat

Bottom end of motor has 75k on it, runs strong. I will be doing this at my buddies with a 2 post lift. I will also be installing K member and long tubes

I've never dropped an engine out of these, but with your list of projects that's the route I'd go. At the very least I'd pull the engine to get to the heads.

Pull it out, will save you hrs of cussing. It sucks enough removing the cam covers in the car, nevermind heads.

I just finished up a long block rebuild. In your situation, with a lift and the fact you’re going with a new K member and headers, absolutely drop that engine from underneath. Not even a question. Good luck!

I'd pull the motor or actually I did drop the motor on my 2 post lift to add my livernois heads. Trying to seal the timing cover, oil pan, get proper torque done with it in the bay would be a nightmare.

I did this exact project last year. I have access to 2 post... after a lot of research I dropped the entire thing from the bottom. Not that bad of a project really, its just nuts and bolts!

In my case I did not have access to a lift. I had to do everything in my 2 car garage with the wifes car in the garage at the same time during the winter. All I had was jack stands and extremely limited room. So it can be done, took me a long time and had to have a lot of patience. While I did not remove the heads I removed everything else and swapped the head bolts to head studs, I stopped just short of lifting the heads off the car (would have been simple at that point). Takes a lot of work to get to that point though.

I dropped mine out the bottom in a 2 car garage using an engine hoist to rotate the car. Only needed the second garage stall when it was time to roll the driveline out through the wheel well. Out the bottom is doable even without a lift

Any pics or tips? I need to pull mine soon and was considering trying to drop it out of the bottom and I don’t have access to a lift. Any info would be appreciated.

I used the engine hoist to lift by the crash bar. Jack stands up as high as they go. Dropped the motor/k onto metal wheel dollies, trans stayed on the trans Jack. Pull wheel well liner for more clearance. Pivot the car up, roll out through wheel well.

I just unhooked the harness from the firewall, not the motor.
