My buddy had 3 in a row back in the day.

a black one, a white one, and a red one.

Didn’t ford offer a police package on them with a different grill ?

Only on the police version itself. But the grill was available through Ford.
My original SHO had a police grill. This one doesnt. However a good friend on the fordgt500 site texted me when he saw my post about getting this car and said at one time he owned a 91 as well. He bought a police grill but never installed due to the fact he sold the car not to long after he got the grill.
He is mailing it to me free of charge.

A good example of a SHO is probably around $4500-$6500

I paid a little north of that. The car is flawless and it had what I needed to go forwarded with the deal. The mocha leather interior

Wow, that is awesome. One in similar condition would definitely have my attention at that price.

Congrats!

I thought of flying up and just driving the car back but the owner and I talked and even though its in great shape it still has 117000 miles on
Id rather have my tow vehicle break (99 7.3 F 350 CC dually ) for it would be easier to fix and get parts for

So I may just drive up there

Congrats... I had an ‘89 SHO as my daily back in 98... had a lot of fun in that car. I sold it to my buddy... he over heated it and seized the motor...

Is that Bob J’s car? New York? That’s probably the nicest black SHO in the country if so.

Man what are the chances that you'd be able to find a car that age, in that condition AND in the colors that you wanted?! Amazing find. Congratulations!

Brings back some memories of my early days of selling cars. That car wasn't really appreciated for what it was.

Wow this feels like a bit of deja vu, a friend of mine and I flew out to Oregon in March and drove home in a 91 SHO that he purchased off a guy who flipped cars in the area. Car was a one owner car in Grants Pass owned by a Ford dealer tech who did all the maintenance (and came with service records). The dealer he purchased it from and worked at, Mock Ford, is still open today. We drove it back from Oregon to Buffalo NY in 5 days. I meant to post a thread about it here but never got around to it.

It seems like SHO's are getting a resurgence in popularity, I'm in a few facebook groups highlighting cars from the 70's to 90's and see a lot of people posting gen 1 and 2 SHO's lately.

They were and are a blast to drive. As I said many times before I have two loves for cars, my 07 Shelby and my 91 SHO.

The SHO I had by a fluke had the rod shifter( updated and prefered shifter) and was a "+" car. The fiberglass hood, and the rear spoiler.
When i bought the car in Miami in 91, They had rows of SHO's to choose from. Some of the early production cars had the cable shifter that was very undesirable, just a poor design and I got real lucky. Walking down the rows of SHO's I said I 'll pick this ONE. It was a plus and had the rod shifter, salesman didnt know squat and I obviously didnt know.

It isnt mine, its just one of the nicer representations of how you can make this engine look of you spend the time and money

Personally my favorite is the polished intake. You can make these things SHINE

they are great cars and cant wait to get it.

Have to be real careful. Plan on adapting what the cannonball runners do regarding potty breaks. I already bought a medical storage device and will dump it at rest areas as needed. My F 350 had a 34 gallon main tank and I have a reserve tank in the bed of the truck with another 33 gallons so I can go between fillups dependent on mpg somewhere between 900-1100 miles. Ill be resting at rest areas at well.
No hotels, virtually no public rest rooms per say just being real careful with the virus going around

Exactly!

I placed a feeler that I "might" be a player with the right car so I a post in the shoforum that if a car was available I might be a player and a mth later a one owner messaged me with a black and mocha leather interior. Almost flawless. Everything works, one owner( yes 29 years and one owner)
He is getting up there in age and had offered it before at a incredibly high price , $10,000 and no one bit. So thats what he started off with. This car should be a $6000- $7000 example in my opinion. So he came off his price because he knew I was a old timer of the SHO game and knew the car would be well taken care of and I came up a little bit and everybody is happy!!

This car is almost a clone. One owner, ALL service records. Anything it needed it got. Flawless interior, virtual no rust, 117k and no useuage of oil and everything works on the car.
I use to in my younger years pull these motors, do tranny fixes, 60 k, 3.0 to a 3.2 engine swap and had a pretty good reputation in Fl

So I know these cars pretty well. All the questions I threw at the current owner he said: yes done, yes done, yes the work was done

My uncle had one of these when I was a teenager. White, with the oem wheels in white, and black windows. I really liked that car, and the Yamaha had plenty of oomph.
