@treynor that 720s guy didnt want to be passed by a mustang!!! LOL
Same with that cayman.

Nice driving Ben, love watching videos of cars passing the entire field. Watching your video makes me want to stop modding my Viper and getting an ACR instead.

I'm not going to say I hate you this time... ;)

Any chance of hooking up a rear view camera?

With a 6 sec/lap difference, it's going to happen. It's only a question of: the easy way, or the hard way?

There were a couple times it looked like you had to check up pretty hard going into a corner. I enjoyed it once you finally got the nose in there so he had to yield.

Glad to see it isn't just local tracks that guys think because they're fast on the straights means they shouldn't let you pass haha

Man your car sounds great!

Looks like a good time! Thanks for sharing.

Laguna is on my bucket list! Just such a far tow from Pa.

Ben have you ever run Road America? If so curious of your thoughts of the comparison on the two.

We raced RA last spring and that's now my favorite track. Watkins Glen long course used to be one of my favorites.

It also depends on the track day host, sometimes they will have the corner guys flag you letting you know to move over for the faster car.

RA is my dream road course in my current car, would love to let it rip there. If you're ever in the west coast and get to spend enough time, hit up Sonoma Raceway. It is another great track.

Typically that's tunnel vision rather than not letting someone pass, he likely didn't even know Treynor was behind. Classic track day newb

RA is a mix of significant elevation changes, long fast straights, some very fast turns and some slower very technical turns. I describe it as Watkins Glen on steroids.

I've run 20 different road courses over my years of racing. Most of them in the NE.

I agree that Sonoma looks like another fun track.

One of my California customers is a driving coach for an open wheel team based out of the Laguna Seca area. He's invited me out to go to an event and do some mountain biking. But I haven't made it yet.

There is also something to be said about egos.

Ego/red mist can be as bad as anything.

I certainly do run into the egos but I'd say 9 times out of 10 it's some new guy who's actually terrified and paying no attention to who's behind them. Or too much going on to realize that you need to let off to let some people pass.

Was there anything out there you didn't pass on track?? Awesome.

The Mustang turned in consistent :33s and :34s when it got clear laps. The next fastest car at the event had a best of a high :36. There were a number of cars, including the McLaren 720s, running :38s - :40s.

Additional note: the Mustang was in 4th gear coming out of T5 because of 103dB sound restrictions for the day. I've measured a 1.5 sec / lap difference between 3rd and 4th with cars at this power level, because the drive up the hill between T5 and T6 takes sooooo long. Thus I expect the car ultimately has easy high :31s in it without sound restrictions, and we may see :30s once we get the setup dialed in. Stay tuned.

I was curious as it did seem you were up a gear.

Car probably hits 106dBs or so?

It seems the way the McLaren was braking, he was a newer driver to this. He seemed to brake early and hard. It was cool watching the active wing.

Correct, that 720 was charging the corner entry and then over-braking; the result was a very slow mid-corner. Against an equally-quick opponent, the technique is to hang back a bit on corner entry in order to preserve your own mid-corner speed, and use the resulting speed advantage at corner exit to pass on the following straight.

And you it with perfection, sir. Perfection!
