at cruising speed temps reach 210-215. Fan is running and pulling good air. New radiator and water pump. Antifreeze was filled by vacuum and burped as well. Is the temps normal?

Try to get a 97 or 98 condenser. The condenser was the biggest issue as it was too dense.

Depending on the ambient temperature, that sounds completely normal. Before my Mishimoto radiator, mine would run 225 on the highway, in hot weather. I also have a '97 plus AC condenser, which lets more air through to the radiator--although changing this had very little effect, by itself. I've been through the ringer, making my 96 run cooler. The thing that finally solved it was the radiator, just recently.

I am running a new 3 row spectra radiator and just ordered a spectra condenser which is more open to allow air to flow. The same p/n is used for 96,97 and 98. Hope this will make a difference. Down low the condenser is completely clogged up with crap and fins are all collapsed

It sounds like that should help. Also how many times have you bled the system/topped up the crossover? Any less than three or four times, and you likely still have air in the system.

vacuum the system down and then filled. Also burped it many times after filled. Did all this after replacing blown head gaskets. I know the head gasket job worked well because temps would run over 230 and now at idle 210 max. It also held vacuum for 15 minutes when I filled the coolant system. The only thing still unknown to me is the coolant hose from the thermostat to the oil cooler still collapses when reved.

Yikes. It sounds like that in itself could cause hot running.

Did you check whether the hose collapses when first started?..I.E. closed loop?..before the tstat opens?

Have you changed the tstat?

New thermostat, radiator, water pump and hoses. It suck shut whether cold or hot.

Same here as far as replacements goes...wow..makes me want to check what mine does!!

And wondering whether my original had a spring in it..?

I know that that hose from the tstat housing to the cooler was a generic gates hose on my LMR kit...And not very stiff compared to the Motorcraft it replaced...hmmm. I had to cut it to length.

I wrote all the part numbers down.
I might be inclined to put a spring in it...
Avoid This Mistake: Radiator Hose Collapse - Hot Rod

I seem to recall that one OEM hoses had a spring in it, but thought nothing of it because folks claimed those were only installed because factory system coolant fill was vacuumed in...dunno now.
