Hey guys new to the forum I successfully zip tied my imrc open but I’m still having a problem where it’s breaking up in mid range till about 5200 rpm then kinda opens up a lil bit I was thinking maybe new plugs? Or some wires but they look really new considering just bought the car a couple days ago and have receipt saying they were done in 2017 about 20k miles ago but who knows just wondering if anyone else has this problem or is this normal

Report back after you replace the plugs (check the before and after gap) and fuel filter.

90% chance it is those coil packs. These cars like OEM coil packs and copper Autolite 764 plugs.
Nothing fancy. They don't like it.
Those MSD wires don't have a good reputation either.

Gap those Copper Autolite 764s to .054
Replace Coil packs with OEM
Replace wire to OEM

You should be good to go next weekend.

Zip tieing the IMRCs open will often trip the CEL also.

I think I will get my plugs done tomorrow along with fuel filter. Not to steal OPs thread, I've heard the MSD stuff isn't great on our cars. I have a set of ford racing wires to put on as well. Are those supposed to be decent?

The older sets were great, lately people have been saying the quality went down hill with the Ford Racing wires. I honestly can't say either way as I haven't tried a new set.
I know my original set of FR wires is about 15 years old and still works great.

+1 side exhaust for the new edge is cheesey (minus the R). On a SN95 its tits, in for pics!

Yep, definitely ignition related. When my OE plug wires finally started giving up the ghost, it had the exact same symptoms. Also, going up a steep hill at mid-low throttle it would miss like crazy. I replaced my wires with a set of FRPP wires, and it's been solid ever since. That was a couple of years ago though, I've heard some people say their quality isn't what it once was.

Update: so ups somehow lost my wires but I put some auto lite copper plugs and the car seems to be about 80% better so went ahaead and cleaned the air filter and also cleaned the maf sensor and the car is definitely much happier pulls stronger through out the whole power band and doesn’t Misfire or struggle up top or down low car is also running smoother and quieter at idle
