It’s not a full blown review but I found it interesting. Oh and heads up, he doesn’t do that driving segment. I’m sure they wouldn’t allow it.

Leno shows the Corvette before the GT500 (Ford did send one there a few days ago)...I honestly think Ford is trying to **** this one up. It'll be interesting to see if they still won't reveal it's heft when Leno starts asking questions.

Gotta say, I'm impressed overall with this new C8. I'm still so-so with the rear end, but it's growing on me. This was a pretty good initial review.

I'm going to be honest; I've never been a Ford fan, but I have always loved the Mustang. The Mustang is an American icon in my opinion, much like the Flat Head V8. Don't get me wrong, I like the Torino, Fairlane, GT40, Galaxy 500, and few other Ford cars, but the Mustang will always be the iconic Ford. It started the Pony car segment.

However, the Corvette also holds a place in my heart. I am an oddball that loves the C4 and C5 cars. To get back on topic though, the Corvette isn't in the same class as ANY Mustang. The Corvette sits among the realm of the Viper and GT40 / FGT. Ford's best competitor was the T-Bird, and their engineering and marketing team morphed an amazing car into conglomeration of confusing history.

I don't think Ford is concerned with the performance market. To be honest, they haven't been for a while. Dodge is building rockets, despite the old tech and weight. They are putting a Hellcat engine in everything possible, and the public is loving it. GM is flexing its muscles with the CTS-V, Camaro, and Corvette. Ford is dumping everything in terms of cars with the exception of the Mustang, and the GT, that requires even @treynor to jump hoops to own.

That said, it doesn't surprise me to see Ford failing in the release of the GT500. In my opinion Ford should be lifting this car up and exhausting the flagship. The CF option should be lauded as an amazing track monster that dominates cars outside of its class.

As a car enthusiast I would love to have a new GT500, but I don't think it has much to offer the Camaro ZL1 1LE (which is the Mustang's true competitor). I am a huge fan of all the Challenger platforms, but as things stand, the RedEye isn't a road track machine. The Demon and RedEye are straight line missiles though, and Ford to only trying to play "keep up" to appease their die hard Ford base.

In summary to my long rant, Ford is doing the minimum, and the Mustang will likely go into the history books within another five to 10 years.

We are living in the peak of the American performance car. I would be honored to own one of any of the performance flagships from any of the big 3. Until that time comes I will enjoy my old 02GT. It isn't fast, but it's mine.

Back to the Corvette!!! I am loving that car right now.

Like the mid engine concept. Just like all Corvettes ingress and egress to the cabin still sucks.

Compared to most mid engined cars, this looks to be one of the better ones. Normally these mid cars have super wide side sills that you have to climb over. This car doesn’t.

I had a C5 and a C6, both terrific cars. This new C8 looks fabulous, and what a deal. $60k is an incredible bargain IMHO ! ! ! :D
