Blew headgasket at 170+ mph at the half mile. First motor I've ever blown.

Looks like a little more than a head gasket failure there haha. How much boost was that?

It's actually not and it's common on 1000+ GTR builds. That spot is the weakest spot on the engine. Was running 30 psi. Piston was perfect and shows no signs of detonation and so was the sparkplug. Engine is now at T1 getting a full build. They reinforce that area and have a custom head gasket to help prevent the failure. That much boost and heat cuts thru aluminum heads and aluminum block like a plasma cutter.

I think Sully was saying that the damage and repair isn't limited to just a HG, and I'd have to agree. lol

Yeah looks to me like that block and head are now paperweights haha

LMAO! Yes, had to buy a new block and head. Keeping old block to make a coffee table. Might as well do something cool with it!

That's expensive

Ugh yes. I will basically have a really nice Terminator under my hood. Is what it is. Pay to play right?

Ouch! How much power is it putting down?

Dito..how much were you making and 30psi on stock internals... Wow

Lol it wasn't stock internals. Engine was built when I bought this car. It just wasn't built by a shop that knew about the HG tricks needed to make it last. Car put down around 1,000 on 30 psi. 1150+ on 35 psi. I kept it at 30 to not float the stock valves. New build is fully ported heads and Ferrea valvetrain. So she will be seeing all the boosts.

Old run

Figure I would revive this thread with my latest bit of carnage.

Are oil pump shafts supposed to look like licorice? Lol
