Wondering what’s out there and if I can still get my hand on a set.

Must be the final revised cylinder head from the running change manufactured in Jan’ 2005 w/ casting number 2C5E-6C064-DC.

(no exceptions) ...unless you have those rare Roush ported heads lol.

PM me or post reply,
Thanks.

How tough are these getting to find?

Pretty tough and when they do pop up, they usually go for pretty big money relatively speaking. I see DB heads pop up more frequently and read somewhere they’re better than DC heads as they can take more porting thus flowing more air which means more power.

In case you didn’t find any, there’s another set for sale for $800 Canadian on Facebook (4 Valve 4.6 Cobra & Mach1 Parts For Sale)
It’s the casting you’re looking for I think.

I saw the same ones, because he says those are damaged, etc. from timing chain (but doesn’t think it’ll hurt anything)

Pull yours, send them out to a reputable shop and you'll be fine. I wouldn't buy a used set of 9 threads without having the same thing done to them prior to install. 4.6 4 valve heads were bad about valve seats coming loose, not just on Cobras. This is what a local engine builder told me who done several sets of heads for a local Ford dealership in my area.

Glad I found a set of DB remans this summer. They still have the tags on them, look brand new. Paid 1300. May have a port done on them at some point.

Sorry I'm of no help. Free bump, lol.

^shit if I were you I'd be looking for another just like this and then sell them for $$$$$$ as a NIB FRPP set. As for the OP, I'd just have the ones on the car re-done. Spend less money and know its done right.

Honestly, the heads are not that hard to find with some leg work. I've had great success with rockauto. I've ordered 3 set of reman heads from them for an 05 Lincoln Aviator past 2 years. All have been latest castings. Around 1400 for a pair. They do come with cheap melling valves. Valves will need to be changed out for boost. They also have steel guides. Have had a couple "lash adjusters" that were noise. One head out of the bunch need to be surfaced .002 to be perfect. But I'm just anal.

To me its been worth the money and less headache. Just have a rep machine shop check them out before slapping them on. Better than taking a chance on used set from some unknown person. I've been burned multiple times.

Remans? Thought they came in plastic shipping boxes? Journals surfaces look used to me...

No idea. All I can tell you is they have not been ran in their current condition. Valves have Ford on them. For whatever that's worth. Surely it's worth more than a head that has been used for who knows how many miles? You said you paid $1400 for a set that you had to change out the valves in, these being Ford valves you wouldn't have to do that, would you?

Wasn't trying to beat it you. My definition of "new" is unused. Hard to tell from a picture and the wrap. Through the plastic and ect. Looks like the head has been rebuilt.

Ford stamp doesn't mean anything. Original valves where Mahle. Never seen new with ford stamped on them. Not Saying they didn't do it either. Usually a paint pen marking that they have been checked by assembler.

I can put a melling or sealed power valve in there and stamp it ford for all that matters. Hard to tell the difference when installed.

So without the original documentation and packaging its all up in the air for all that matters.

I was curious on the head what i boils down too.

You don't have to change out the valves if you don't want to. I changed them out cause of my setup. Even original Mahle won't stand up to it. Plus I rather do things once.

No worries. Well dang.... I thought I had something. Guess not. I'm certainly no expert on the matter by any means. This head has been sitting in storage for probably 8 to 10 years so no big deal. I'll toss it in with something else I sell in the future.

The ford heads come sealed in a plastic bag in a cardboard box. I still have the box my drivers side DC head came in that i personally bought from the local ford dealer. I wish this DC pass head was available a few years ago as the DC right side was obsolete before the drivers side.

OP i do have a brand new bare never assembled DB pass side head id sell for $700 shipped.

Still Looking! 2019 Bump!

As for the OP, I'd just have the ones on the car re-done. Spend less money and know its done right.

That’s too much work/down time for my car, and I’m willing to spend the money for revised heads. I’m currently still working through tuning my car and driving it around making sure everything is operating correctly. So I want to find the Jan 05 heads, get them ported and have all the hardware upgraded. Possibly do custom grind cams... then when they’re ready to go, I’ll do them swap over the weekend.

Really looking for a complete set!
