The GT would still win on a road course. The M is hard to drive at the limit. It came in 3rd in the 2018 Best Driver’s Car. 3rd.

Great car, but far from the best from a handling standpoint.
I would love to actually see it but too bad apparently all GT owners are too chicken shit to offer their car for a Randy Pobst head 2 head

why was that video even made? the two cars arent even close in specs.

the 720s is nearly 200lbs lighter and has a 60hp/20ftlb advatange not to mention the fact that is literally hundreds of thousands of dollars less expensive.

in comparison to a 720s, the ford gt is a ****ing turd.
The DragTimes guy dyno'd both his 720S and NFGT and the 720S was putting over 100hp more at the wheels than the NFGT. With the weight difference like you said, the NFGT never stood a chance.

I'm a Ford guy, but with the performance and cost advantage the McLaren has.....I would easy buy the 720 before the FGT

When I would drive the car, the from a dig, or roll on straight performance would be what I would be looking for. The idea of tracking a 6 digit car is not appealing to me. Too many "Agricultural Excursions" have previously been had, and I (personally) would be sick to run a car like that through a corn field.

So the F GT got the jump and still got worked...
One car (720S) is under rated horsepower, the other is over rated.......

ass kicking

I think I could hear the GT drive yelling "but my car won le maaaaaaaaaaans" as the 720 pulled away.

Seriously though, I would expect it to be closer than that.

720S - 3,000 lbs, 710HP
GT - 3,300 lbs, 647HP

The outcome was easily predictable. And you can tell that, even in the GT, Ford still hasn't figured out good gear ratios for their transmissions.

Let's be clear here. The 720S is a 9 second capable car in stock form. The NFGT is not slow, the 720S is just f'ing fast.

Myself, I'd probably pick the NFGT because I love how it drops so fast when you switch to track mode!

Id pick the GT purely based on Mclarens being as common as corvettes around here.

The 06 C6Z came out after the previous Ford GT, it was faster. Who cares, the new Ford GT will worth a ton more than the 720s.

Yeah, the GT will appreciate in value as time goes on. The 720S' value will fall off a cliff as time passes. In a couple more years, we'll be seeing SVTP-ers posting threads about "I Got A 720S!" left and right like they do/did with the C6 Z06 and ZR1 (and GTR).

Thank god this video settled the long term collectability argument.

You could clearly tell by how bad the Mac was beating the GT's ass that it's value will drop like a rock. The GT driver was probably screaming that out the window the whole way down the track.

The Ford GT looks better. But why did ford have to put a V6 in the GT? There's your problem right there. Come on Ford. They should have put a TT 5.0 in it.

Agreed 100%

I can guarantee you tho, getting raped in your half million dollar car has to sting a little bit. Folks that owns these types of cars typically don't have small egos.

It’s literally been said many times why they used a v6, it performs really well and is a great car yet people count it out cause it’s a v6.

Nothing against you at all, I wish it’d have a v8 too but the reasoning for a v6 makes perfect sense to me.

This is the rub with Ford's current generation of price structure. The original Ford Gt was a bang for the buck super car, wtf happened?
Hope they don't start thinking the new gt500 is a 911 turbo s.

You guys are nuts if you think that the GT automatically beats the 720 on a road course. It has laid down some ridiculous times so far.

The even more crazy thing, the 720 is their regular "every day" hyper car, that anyone can buy, and isn't even their track focused model. We won't even bring in Mac's version of a limited edition track weapon into the discussion.

Benchmark for Phoenix (NGT) was GT3 and 675LT. NGT fares pretty well against the targets. 720, new model, many improvements, zero doubt its faster likely on all accounts. It will be endless of cars that are faster. Its called progress, GT2RS looks like its faster than 720, its endless. I was simply commenting takes a different set of skills to pedal a car on a road course, than straight line.

Ultimately NGT came to be for one and only one reason, to win at LeMans. Success in 2016. 2019 will be the last go, will be fun to see what happens.

It would be nice if Ford would sponsor the Mustang in the Le Mans class.
