Hankook Ventus S1 Noble tire issues resulting in pro-rated credit

I’m posting in this section because I’m not sure which other Ford models besides the Explorer may come with the 255/50R20 tires like those on the Platinums and Sports.

On my 2013 Sport with the same tires, I replaced them only after about a year due to extensive tread wear, out of pocket.

I noticed the same thing on our 2017 Platinum with only 22,000 miles being less than 4/32” in most areas, as well as small chunks of the remaining tread coming out.

So long story short, did some research and found Ford SSM 46905 showing that Hankook would possibly pro-rate these tires.

Just received a $750 credit from Hankook via the dealership yeasterday and am having 275/50R20 Michelin Premier LTXs installed as replacements.

They also did a recall on some of their Explorer tires produced over a 2 year span. Don’t have that info readily available.

Figured I’d pass this along.

Our 13' Sport has 60K on the original tires, looks like we'll easily get another year (10-15K) out of them.

Have them on my new 150, first time I've had a set of this brand.

Hit and miss with these tires. Inconsistencies in their manufacturing process I assume.

0 for 2 personally. (Didn’t have our ‘16 long enough to see how that set managed. )

Keep an eye on yours. Ours looked similar to this in regards to chipping, but not quite as bad:

Sorry about that. Sounds like they came from the same batch as mine. Might be worth it to try And reach out to Ford with the mileage shown on your sales receipt. Maybe they might be able to do something with Hankooks customer service still.

Exploders and tire problems seem to go hand in hand.

Damn it...wish I saw this about a month ago.

Wow, mine are chipping right now. I need to get ahold of them because I am about to replace them.
