A rod knock is is just that, a knocking or a metallic rattling sound. It's often loudest or most noticeable around 30 mph or so. Sometimes you can reduce the sound or even make it go away by disconnecting the spark plug to that cylinder. On older engines with distributors you simply pulled the plug wire to each cylinder until you found the one that reduced the sound. On a modern engine like your Coyote I would simply remove the coil covers if they're still in place and then disconnect the coil pack to the suspect cylinder. Obviously you may have to try more than one cylinder. Don't disconnect more than one at a time. This isn't foolproof, but it can often detect a loose of failed bearing. Again as I suggested earlier a failed or failing bearing will almost always show up in the oil filter media. If you haven't looked here yet, it would pay you to do so.

Just like mentioned above your next step would be to disconnect each coil pack and go from there. It's obviously not a exhaust leak or idler. If you do disconnect a coil pack and it goes away I would then pull your oil filter and cut it open.

I think I read a thread here where someone had the same noise and he did in fact have a failed rod bearing. He ended up just replacing the bearing and everything has been fine since. Keep us updated on what you find out.

Am I wasting my time going to the dealer? How long will it take before they figure it out and figure out if it's under warranty? Do they have to tear it down and send off the computer? I'll be doing a compression check this weekend.

My number 8 cylinder went out, Prestige Ford told me that they could not warranty it because I had tampered with the software. They gave me a sheet of paper which was there correspondence with Ford and it showed my vehicle information, it spoke of their testing procedures including cylinder bore scope, etc, and then explained that the computer seems to have been modified.
At that point I was on my own. But it's cool because now I can build a coyote engine with my eyes closed. That was my first modular build.

I spun a rod in my 13gt, sounded like rocks rolling around. Drain oil and you will see metallic particles in it if its spun. It ruined everything the block was trash the heads and cams were junk. Being everything is aluminum it scored the cam journals, put deep grooves in every one of them.
