Unfortunately, I probably wont have numbers for a while. I'm doing a remote tune with 04sleeper. Maybe I'll go to a dyno day or something to see what it puts down.

Bought my 96 Mystic from middle of country sight unseen and had transported....not very pleased as I felt it did not come "as advertised"....but seriously what could I do at that point? Minor issues....just upsetting to be taken advantage of. Even with multiple pics, back and forth conversations, etc. I felt there were issues that should have been pointed out up front and honest from the seller. Purchased the 04 Mystichrome out of Connecticut and made the 14 hours round trip drive for this purchase and hired transport to bring back. This vehicle definitely came as advertised +++ and was very pleased with the whole transaction.

My take is if at all possible....go see it and make sure it is what the seller says. By not doing so, you're taking a huge risk. The 96 wasn't too hateful on price and I can only blame myself for not performing due diligence, but the 04 there was no way I wasn't going to go touch and feel before buying.

Do you mind letting me know what the transport cost? Enclosed or open? I may have to do this from STL to Texas if I move and I'm curious.

From TX to MD $700....CT to MD $450 both open carriers. The CT to MD carrier was great and had car picked up within 24 hours and to me within 36. Would use him again!

They quoted me $1100 from Buffalo NY to Kansas....that deal fell through though.

What about paying/wiring money and covering yourself that way. Some suggested high-end but by time you pay a dealer price etc, you can "afford" to have some issues buying from an individual. So my biggest concern is wiring someone money and never getting the title or car?!?!

Any thoughts on the payment if I find one I've had someone checkout etc? What's the best way to pay remotely and have a guarantee car will be given to delivery pickup, and title?

You will have to work with the seller on pickup and title. It could take a couple of weeks before a transport company can pick the car up and other couple before they can delivery it. If there is a loan out on the car there will be a delay in getting the title. I wired the money directly to the loan and the leftover went into the sellers savings account. My purchase went well but I had a friend in Florida look at the car for me and the seller was very helpful. I had a bill of sale before wiring the money.

Yea I'd like to at least find someone in Orlando to take a look if I could, that'd be sweet. Secondly though, I hate to wait for it to show up if I pull the trigger, lol. Would love to have this weekend!

I bought my 18k mile 03 Cobra site unseen. I was a nervous wreck, but haven't had a single issue yet. Well, that I'd consider an issue when dealing with a vehicle site unseen. Needs an alternator (after 3 months), is anyone surprised? Lol. But I bought through Hi-EndAuto, Anita and Rob were great and delivered the exact car they promised. Gave me pictures and videos galore, that I requested for such a transaction. They even worked out shipping arrangements for me. But to buy from a private party, I would never do, imo. That is a tough call. It is hard to find 1, then drive 5-10 hours that it wasn't what they said it was. So trying to find what you're looking for gets even harder when you're searching far and wide for the perfect car.

I bought my Sonic Blue unseen and she came pretty much as advertised. The process of shipping was a pain in the ass but mechanically everything was good. Even found a few pleasant surprises mod wise that the previous owner didn't know about so I don't have the feeling the seller knew what he had. Uship is a great tool for getting shipping quotes and even opening up the shipping for bids to get the lowest price possible.

I used Uship, got bid from a guy for enclosed trailer for $800 from Florida to Kansas. Car is on its way but he picked up within a couple hours. So I'll see if car is as advertised, I wired the money sight unseen. Probably not the wisest decision but I felt confident.

Hope it works out. Link to the car you bought?

Thanks everyone for your quick replies. I've considered several of the ideas posted, I agree 100% not everyone is the same. I spend a lot of time detailing cars and what bothers me, a lot of people don't see.
It just seems to me the terminator owners on here seem pretty hardcore with expectations so I was hoping their descriptions were fairly spot on.
Considering a relative but they know nothing about cobras but know what would bother me I think and be able to check basic things....I'll have to decide here soon. Again thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

This. It amazes me what people's idea of "excellent condition " is. I am picky & enjoy detailing/working on my car. What bothers me isn't a thought on other people's mind. I had my brother check out my car in AZ. I trust him & I still had a lot of little things to sort out on a "perfect" car. Check it out for yourself

A lot of good info posted in this thread, and the other one noted on the first page. I'm going to review everyone's comments, compile some general recommendations, and create a new Q/A to my Terminator FAQs.

Honestly, I think everyone on this site is pretty straight forward and wouldn't do any funny business. I'd feel relatively comfortable. My dad has bought a few cars site unseen from auctions and all of them came not as described. Even if you posted where the car was at, I'm sure a member that was close would offer to go look at it for you.

I bought mine brand new 2,400 miles away from me. Dealer shipped it to me. Bad thing was waiting the 30 days from the time it left their showroom until it got here. Best purchase ever.
