No you need both cause there’s a latch on both sides, only thing you can realistically do and the cheapest and easiest route is to just sand down the front so the front plate sits flat without a gap. We’re not talking a lot of sanding took me 5 min or less to sand it
If you did that, 100% would you loose the hood on the freeway. That is if it even makes it though closing the hood with out destroying. where the latch comes in contact. There’s a reason why the factory had metal not fiberglass there.
