Ford showed a 2020 Explorer in Police trim recently, also on this new Aviator RWD/AWD platform.
With the Mustang due to get a major refresh in '20 or 21, I would not be surprised at all to see it get this new platform as well.
It is already known that it was designed to work with hybrid and...
The first recall part (inflator, not airbag) was found to be pretty much the same as the part they were replacing.
So now they have "new and improved" inflators they're installing under the current recall.
What year is your car?
Got the recall done on the passenger side airbag on the wife's Shelby today.
In and out in about 90 minutes.
And I think it only took that long cuz it took about 45 minutes for it to get dispatched.
You're welcome!
I got an appointment for the wife's Shelby for Monday morning with the dealership she bought it from.
It's about an hour drive each way, but it's supposed to be a beautiful sunny day with temps in the mid-60's ... should make for a nice ride both there and back :)
Will report...

Apparently my '13 Mustang won't get recalled (at least not yet, maybe under 19S01 next year?) cuz it was never registered in the states listed:

According to the latest recall, 17S01, that part # is to be used only for the 2012 Mustang and the 2005-2006 Ford GT (the supercar).
The 2005-2009 Mustang uses part# 5R3Z-63044A74-B
See here...
Thanks.
Googling that part # I find this:
https://ford.oemdtc.com/2644/safety-recall-17s01-passenger-airbag-inflator-replacement-2005-2012-ford-lincoln-mercury
Which lists part # 5R3Z-63044A74-B for all 2005-2009 Mustangs.
So I either gotta call this dude back and tell him to get off his as$...
Those of you that have had the pass side inflator replaced, can you post up the part number that was installed, listed on the receipt?
I have a local dealer that's supposedly ordered a part for my wife's '08 like 3 weeks ago, supposedly it's different than the other models, which I don't...
Well, a colder plug would be something like the NGK TR7IX, right? Which is an Iridium plug.
I run those in my blown '13 GT and I noticed a smoother idle and an overall smoother-running engine after putting them in and removing the zero-heat-range Motorcraft plugs that I had in there.
Occasionally if in 6th gear, going 60+ and just pressing down on the gas pedal somewhat to gain 10-15mph, I'm pretty sure I've heard some pinging. That could've caused those specks, right?
We try not to do that anymore and just downshift to 5th
Thanks guys. I went back and snapped a few more detailed pictures, in case any of you don't mind studying them a little closer :)
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks for your reply.
I had a friend that usually really knows his stuff tell me (about the second one on the passenger side, cylinder 2 I think? ) that "Usually when the insulator is polar white like that it's due to steam. Water leaking into the cylinder."
Which obviously worried us, so I...
