    Down on power.

I finally got around to working on this issue. My main thread for it is over on stangnet if anyone wants to follow along. Not proving easy to fix, unfortunately.

    Steering Rack Leak - Options?

I added one spacer to each side and problem solved. Thanks so much!

    '92 with tape deck hiss.

I have a 92 with the graphic equalizer on the stereo. It has a very bad hiss when playing a tape with the engine running. With the engine not running, there's no hiss and it sounds great. The hiss does not change with engine RPM's, so I don't think it's ignition related. If there is any when the...

    Steering Rack Leak - Options?

Good news, and a question. I got the new rack in early this week, with all new hoses, tie rod ends, poly bushings, fluid flush and even added a power steering filter to the return line. Today I got it aligned. Drives like a new car. Steering is tight and responsive. However, I noticed when...

    Steering Rack Leak - Options?

I went through a lot of options, made a bunch of phone calls. What I came to find out is no one could promise me a black painted rack like is on the car, and in fact several people told me they haven't seen one in a while in a reman. Most of the new ones are a newer silver design. I'd really...

    Steering Rack Leak - Options?

I think I'm likely going to buy a cheap reman rack and then try and get the original rebuilt. I really appreciate the pointer to Turn One, the price really isn't that bad. Cheaper than a brand new high quality rack.

    Steering Rack Leak - Options?

The power steering rack on my 1992 has developed a pretty good leak recently. Not a bad run if it lasted 30 years! I was looking into options though, and quickly my head spun. Hoping to get some advice. I know many people replace these with newer SN95 racks or other "upgrade" options. I...

Who made the stock shocks in 1992?

To close this out, yesterday the Gabriel shocks went on the car. They look extremely similar to the stock units. There are some very minor differences if you have a keen eye, like the clip on the boot of the horizontal shock is different. They of course have different embossed part numbers...

Who made the stock shocks in 1992?

See, that's where I don't get it. I understand keeping the car "original", but I don't understand having a 30 year old oil filter or tires on a car. The only way that makes sense is if it is in a museum & displayed in a way you can see the filter or read the sidewall & the car will never be...

Who made the stock shocks in 1992?

I don’t think I’m hard-core enough to ever go for something like MCA gold. I will keep the OEM ones though, in case I sell this to someone down the road who wants to go that route. Perhaps we might enter into something like the occasionally driven category. More likely it’ll just be something...

    Down on power.

Well, I have sad news to report. Transmission needs a rebuild. Won't go into overdrive, and the fluid has a burnt smell. That stupid little plastic bushing.

    Down on power.

I will investigate the Salt & Pepper connectors, that's an interesting one! Thanks for the other suggestions. I was looking into the airbag code, it looks like I have to replace the Airbag Diagnostic Module, and it looks like no one makes them anymore? Anyone know a source for NOS?

Who made the stock shocks in 1992?

I have a 1992 that desperately needs new shocks, but it's a looker and may get entered in a competition or two. I'd like to get replacements that are as similar as possible to the OEM shocks it came with but are no longer available. My first question is, does anyone know who was making the...

    Down on power.

Let me ask this question, what other parts would you replace on a 30 year old fox body 5.0 if they appeared to be original? After the bushing finding, I think I'm going to prioritize replacing the flexible brake hoses front and rear. The hard lines look fine, but trusting 30 year old hoses in...
