THANKS FOR SHARING! I was on bart as it started (on the Oakland side just b4 the tunnel).
It was cray to see how far out they come in from (~Dublin) to start their approaches. We got there in time to see about 1/2 of it this year

woulndt that blow those people ear drums out?

anyways, thats sweets pictures.

Your thinking that was a supersonic pass. It is not, they would never be authorized to do so around those boats at that level. He is movin though as you can see the water ripple below. I was on a aircraft carrier for four years and out at sea the fighter pilots have put on various shows doing supersonic fly bys at that level right off the side of the ship. Even without ear protection it is not that loud but the sonic boom when it just passes you creates a nice concusion to make your hair stand up. Its a awesome experience. Some times if the conditions are right there will be a whole ring of condensation around the middle of the plane as its making this pass

I used to work on the F/A 18. I was a jet engine mechanic. I also was turn-up qualified. I could start the engines and do afterburner shots.
When I was in, the only people allowed to start up the plane was AD's and pilots.

I hope to be a pilot in about 5-6 years. I'm going to join the Air Force as an officer after I go to college and take AFROTC classes. You don't have to be enlisted in the Navy to become a Blue Angel pilot do you? I always wondered about that.

ok. Now you have peaked my interest. Explain why it would be hard to imagine an enlisted guy being a pilot?

Being an enlisted guy myself, I am somewhat offended by your statement.

I don't see you saying that you were an officer and I sure hope you weren't. Because your spelling is not very good.

If you look at one of those pics, you can kinda see the "ectoplasm" around the A/C. It's faint, but it's there. This only occurs sometimes though. The conditions have to be just right....he's probably traveling at damn close to mach 1..... Usually at those shows, they take it to about .98 but never any higher.

I'm trying to work to fly the 16....but, it's damn tough...and lots of work!
