Forgive me on the topic, im sure its been beaten to death but i did not find anything solid in my searches.

I am looking to get my 1999 Cobra into about the 375 N/A RWHP Range. I was looking at doing the following mods.

JLT Intake
Intake Porting (Who does good intake porting)
FR500 High Flow Heads
FR500 High Lift Cams w/ Valvetrain
March Underdrive Pulleys w/ SFI Dampener Pulley
1 3/4 Mid Length Headers (too many clearance issues w/ LTs)
Off Road H Pipe
Cat Back
Good Dyno Tune
4.30 Gears (even though it wont show on the dyno)

Will this get me to my goal or any recommendations on parts to use. Also will the drivetrain (Halfshafts etc) hold up to this power.

Thanks
Sean

i would go with the kooks long tubes they are a ton higher quality. i would also throw in an electric water pump and aluminum flywheel and you should be really close

Naz does some nice intake P/P work. Big bore or stroker shortblock would definitely help in your goal also..

Why not port your stock C heads?

Here's a good example of how the DOHC heads flow compared to each other. Taken from SHMs "How to build max performance 4.6l engines."

You can probably get there with:

CAI or RAI
ported intake
ported C's w/reduced CC volume
FR500 High Lift Cams w/ Valvetrain
March Underdrive Pulleys w/ SFI Dampener Pulley
1 3/4 Mid Length Headers (too many clearance issues w/ LTs)
Off Road X Pipe

Thanks for all the tips guys. as of now i am keeping it N/A for a daily driver but with a little more punch to it. i dont really want to do a BB SB due to lack of money. The Kooks LTs are the only LTs I have thought about. Should i step up a 39lb Injector?

For that type of money cough cough Kenne Bell cough cough Procharger.

i dont know many last i checked full kennebell kit was over 6k, and procharger is like 4k+ and then you have tune and blah blah and rebuild would be almost necessary.

he can port his intake and heads with naz for a decent price, fr500 cam kit is like $1400 complete from steve thats like $2600-2800 i dont see it costing anymore than $3200

i was going to go FI but im going to take the time and slowly build it the right way then go FI..as soon as i get money naz is getting my heads and intake.

I really didn't put that out there right. i was talking more about ground clearance issues. I have H&R Sport Springs and some of the roads around here are pretty uneven and my driveway has a nice big bump in it. Thats the only reason i was leaning towards Mid Lengths, but let me know about the clearances once the kooks are on

Ive now started to look at other cams and i was looking at either the comp 106300 and the 106400. i do want a little lope in the idle but not enough to cause stalling at stop lights and to fail inspection. i would think 106300s would be a tad better choice to go with. i do know that 4Vs dont need a huge cam to make good power. just not sure which one to go with

I have custom ground Comps that are similar to the 106300s but can be used with stock springs. The idle is a little lopey but not so much that it causes any problems. The lift is lower than the 106300 but the opening and closing rates are much quicker so the effective open valve area is the same or more than higher lift cams with the same duration.

BTW, they are now for sale.

You won't be anywhere near 375 at the rear wheels with those mods. You'll need go stroked or at least forged, with cams, etc. Plus, the stock '99 IRS will not hold up - one bad wheel hop and it's toast. 28-spline IRS is the weakest of all the Cobra IRSes.

Mine's in the shop right now getting the following (they estimate 340 RWHP):
-CP pistons (bored 20 over)
-h-beam rods
-Crower Stage 2 cams
-Stage 2 ported heads
-FRPP 4.30s
-IRS brace cover (Steeda)
-IRS bushings and mount brackets
-03/04 halfshafts
-Tune

Currently has:
-L/Ts
-Prochamber
-Bassani catback
-Amazon Racing air kit
-Predator
-other suspension and non-performance mods.

Actually if the right builder does the work he'll have no problem making 375rw with bolt ons/exhaust, ported FR500s, FR500 cam/vt kit. If I only made 340rw (as you think you will) from the mods you have planned I'd be pissed. There are stock shortblock, stock cam, 4Vs making more than that.

You really don't need FR500 heads, just have your stock heads fully ported.
